Just wanted to express how great it is to see that an intelligent hockey community does exist in the nation's capital. Growing up surrounded by Leafs and Habs fans, I've seen how passionate, albeit how stupid also, hockey fans can be. The Sens may have a small fan base relative to the Leafs and Habs, but I can say with 100% confidence that the people on gmhockey are just as passionate and a hell of a lot smarter.

I train with a number of NHL players in Ottawa in the off-season and while I do respect their privacy and don't hound them about rumors and inside information, I'm hoping to contribute to this site by offering my own insight and analysis. I work in contract management and have a degree in accounting/finance so I have a good understanding of the numbers game.

Looking forward to being part of the team

Good question! I've known about this site for a while but never joined for whatever reason. I was a big follower of Chirp but once he got sponsored by the Score Federation I find his content lacking and the open comment forum to be brutal!

Clearly I have to figure out how to respond to these things properly.

I train every once in a while with them in Ottawa. Met some through Grecko, others I know locally.

I'm sure you could still follow N4L (despite the fact that you're an old man now) Wink

Might need a little trash talk to slow them down a bit though Smile

Welcome, welcome.

Now tell me about Greco. I heard that his background in football is actually a detriment to hockey players who choose his services. I was told this by someone who would probably be considered a competitor, and it was in response to me wondering how Fisher could hurt his groin before seeing any action (last year).

I have nothing against Greco except his segments on TGOR (I want more hockey and infantile humor) but a number of our players train with him and, frankly, I'm a little concerned.

Nothing to be concerned about. Behind it all he's a nice guy and a good motivator. He's no different than any other personal trainer except for the fact that he sticks with you and really pushes.

Hey, did I miss a gmhockey draft?

If you are talking about the GM Hockey Fantasy Pool Round 13 thread, you missed that one (although it's not over yet).

SF71 is organizing another another one using ESPN'sa pool utilities. Details here:
