Interesting development. Medvedev (KHL's Buttman) says they will wait until the outcome of the aribitration hearing before deciding whether to register the contract. This is apparently after a talk with Rene Fazel (IIHF's president), and also after Atlanta decided to withdraw an offer to Joel Kwiatkowski, who has a contract with St. Peterburg.

Hudler's contract, by the way, is said to be $10 for 2 years (tax free). He was reportedly seekng $4M/year from Detroit.

Well, if Hudler is propery of Detroit, then the KHL should not be able to pinch him, but if Detroit is not going to sign him they should just let him go or trade him. This whole RFA business and the KHL needs to be cleared up.

If they don't sign him, how could they trade him? Or can they trade the rights to a player?
