Haven't finished Wolverine yet. Kind of repetitive too, though the riddle's and such add some fun to Batman.

Okay, I figured I might just be at a kind of slow spot at the beginning. The reviews have been excellent as well. I'll put a couple of hours in tomorrow.

Yessir, and thanks for the condolences Razz A lot of good Canadian bands have broken up, it is very sad - Tea Party, IME, Big Wreck, Headstones..

Hugh is also the star of Flashpoint and Durham County, and has been seen in many great movies.

I'll have to try Assassin's Creed II, but might want to start with I, no? Xmas is coming up so....

Just placed a massive order ($800+) with Amazon.ca but, of course, that fat bastard wearing the red suit will get all the credit. Finally making the splash into PS3 land (the "family" gift) and of course some games to go along with it. One of those will be NHL 10. That sucker runs $70 pretty much everywhere. But my eagle-eyed friend in Calgary noticed that several of the stores there have it on for $30 less -- $39.83 instead of the $69.83 pretty much everywhere else. He called one store in particular to verify that, yes indeed, that was the selling price, and they still had several copies.

Now, I don't know if you could get away with it, but perhaps you could convince a Future Shop "Associate" to do a price match. Just go to one of the web stations they have in the store, type in walmart.ca, then enter this postal code to find the closest store: T2C1E5

Click on the nearest store (top of the list) and search for "nhl 10 ps3" and it will give you the $39.83 price. See if you can get a price match. Failing that, perhaps you can give your local WalMart store a call and ask "What gives?" Maybe this is just the start of something big, who knows.

As for me, I e-mailed Amazon.ca and asked if they would price-match, since I just dropped $800 in their coffers and $30 off would be appreciated (my friend had offered to pick it up and mail it to me). They politely replied that they don't price match or even offer a price guarantee. I will politely reply and let them know that my next order is going to go to Future Shop, who *will* price match and *will* offer a price guarantee.

I got myself the God of War Collection (I and II on one Blu-Ray) and finished the first game. I was very impressed with it. Also got Assassins Creed II and Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. Some of those will be put away for Xmas, so I will have a lot of gaming to do.

I have demon's souls still waiting as well as the last ratchet and clank, but right now with the exams I don't do much and before going to sleep I just watch a bluray movie or live concert.
I have to finish my pile before march because the madness will be inbearable: FF13, GranTUrismo 5, GOd of war 3, Yakuza 3, Heavy rain... OMG.

I hope one of the games you got was NOT Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as it is NOT suitable for children. There was one seen where I was completely taken aback by. Basically you are undercover as a Russian arms dealer, and he, you and 2 of his cronies go on a shooting spree in an airport just mowing down civilians as they run for cover. Just tremendous amounts of blood and corpses lying all over the place at the end of it.

So hopefully this was not a game you got for your family.

Fear not Smile I got Ratchet and Clank FTOD in a bundle with a remote, the previously mentioned NHL 10 and Little Big Planet (Game of the Year edition), a $20 PSN card (meant for getting Braid). Then for the girls it was Hannah Montana and Littlest Pet Shop for the Wii (they will get 1st crack at the Wii now that we'll have the PS3). Then there was the PS3 itself and Wii Fit Plus with the balance board. I don't think I've ever spent this much for Christmas, or at least not all at once like that. Facepalm

I checked online at a few local (Otawa-area) WaolMart stores and at least two of them (Richmod/Carling and Barrhaven) are also selling NHL 10 for the PS3 for $39.83. I have asked Amazon.ca to cancel the copy of the game from my order (failing that I will return it separately) after giving them one (or was that two) last chances to do a price match. So because of a $30 difference on an $800 order they are going to lose me as a customer, plus who knows how many of you I can sway -- be aware that Amazon.ca *does not* offer price match, and will not do a price guarantee except for pre-order items and only matching to their own price. If you order from FutureShop.ca they offer price matching and will guarantee the price. I believe the price matching extends for 30 or 60 days beyond your purchase date,

Stay away from Amazon.ca.

I bought Lost Odyssey and Fable II for a combined $20 tax included yesterday. I hope I get the time to get into them, but I have my doubts. Still...luckily games don't expire. Ahhhhh!

Kinda hard marking it "From Santa" when you shop on Boxing Day.

Oh, and, by the way, lots of deals around that are as good as Boxing Day that are happening in the weeks leading up to it. For example, Dell.ca recently had their 11 days of deals. The last deal (today) has a 32" 1080p set for $550 -- that's $250 off the regular price (and Dell's regular prices are pretty good to begin with). 31% off on a *non-obsolete* TV is about as good as you will see. I bought my Harmony 880 just just before Christmas a couple of years ago (also during Dell.ca's days of deals) for $99. Two years later it is still selling for $130 on sale at Costco (and more at other places). As far as I know it never got to the $100 price point in any Boxing Day sale (except for, perhaps, a refurb unit).

MMh, I think you can easily find a samsung 32" 1080p at that price... without the fear of shipping from dell.ca.

For $1000 nowadays, you can get a 40" 1080p, 1 year old series.
Best TV deals are always on Boxing days, especially those that have 10 per store.

Marakh, yes, you can find a 1080p Samsung at BB for $700, but there are significant differences. The Philips set (Dell.ca) is a 120Hz machine, which lets you see native 24fps for blu-ray movies. The Samsung is 60Hz which means 2:3 pulldown and the accompanying motion artifacts. Granted, it's only a 32" TV so you're not likely to be watching a lot of movies on it. That's the biggest reason I didn't jump at it -- I'm looking for a bedroom set to plug in the Wii and watch some TV; the PS3 is replacing the Wii on the main TV. But if there was a 720p set at 31% off I probably would have jumped at it.

The prices you are quoting for the 40" will likely get you something like an Insignia or Dynex, or it will be a 60Hz TV. Plus I wasn't talking about $1000 but about $550 -- that's a significant difference.
