According to Dredger, Suter kicked tires for Auld but unfortunately neither he or Murray could make something work due to the Salary Cap issues. I'm guessing Murray wanted a prospect and Suter was offering a roster player....Hmmmm but who?

Irving?

This is exactly where I thought Auld would be heading the whole time.

I could see Murray asking for Irving but who would have been the roster player.

What? They couldn't get a deal done because of salary cap? Auld only made 1 million - and at the deadline, that's down to 250K.

Boo. I love Auld, but I think there could have been something worked out.

Boing!

That's a massive deal killer.

Well if its true on what Dredger mentioned tonight then here's hoping that Murray and Suter can revisit this in the off season and Murray can pry Irving out of Cow town

If you can take a flyer on Irving while taking on some short term cap from some plug, then I say you do it. Bingo needs a goaltender right now and Irving could turn out to be decent.

I agree, but who?

Vandermeer makes 2.3 million or something ridiculous like that - and he's got 2 more years I think. That is a bad, bad, bad, bad contract.

Perhaps we can expand the deal to include a pick, but even then, do you want to pay him that much $$?

Vandermeer is not a starting or an ending point for any team dealing with the Flames.

Vandermeer would be a nice addition if Murray was able to move someone like Smith and Schubert. That being said 2.3 is still a bit much. I wonder if Primeau was a consideration for a 2 for 1 deal.

The Dredger dredges up another sunken deal...does he not have better things to do?

Maybe he can 'join' McGuire in Minnesota 'with the Wild'...or maybe they can go work in a ham radio station up in Little Falls.

And McKenzie can be the guy who goes for sandwiches.

:^^^^: I'll admit that although interesting, it serves very little purpose other than to possible disrupt Auld's summer a little.
