Base this one on the true spirit of the award. Who is the most valuable to their team. Take that player away and how does that team perform? Who has the biggest impact to their team?

I'm going with Chris Mason. I know it's a weird one but St. Louis was THE Hottest team for the last half of the season in large part because of him.

I'll go with Roberto Luongo. Without him, they wouldn't be where they are today. I was going to say Brodeur, but they did just fine without him.

Mason is a good one too Clutch.

Zdeno Chara - 30 minute plus D-Man, if he is not on the B's, they are a vastly different team.

Mike Richards for the Flyers is another possible choice.

You can only nominate one. Nice try though :D:

I'm glad we've got a diverse opinion going here. 3 responses with three different choices is great for debate.

Scott Clemmensen.

52 points in 40 games when Brodeur went down deserves some recognition. Plus, he accepted that the Devils has no choice but to sent him down to the AHL right after that - and didn't complain once.

I know it's not supposed to matter, but Ovechkin deserves it for his work in the regular season, but probably won't get it if the Rangers eliminate the Caps.

My vote would go to Ovechkin. Malkin a distant second.

Agreed, but he seems more of an unsung hero than a MVP simply because everyone knows the name Ovechkin but almost no one knows him.

Just for some representation for him, I say Malkin. I think he deserved it last year, TBH.
