Yeah, well they dumped Jokinen in a hurry didn't they?

IMHO Maloney won't be looking at another soft center anytime soon...and not for $32MM.

I dont think Jokinen is soft at all personally, I think he can be lazy and isnt someone you can count on when it matters.

It's also 42M there Dave. I can see Pheonix doing it honestly, but they might have to send some salary back the other way, and Jovonovski could be that guy considering they type of D man is trying to aquire. Sending Lee the other (also who Muckler drafted) makes a lot of sense.

Just kidding about Olli...hey he scored some nice goals last night, eh.

Is it really 42? I thought JaySpez had 4 years left at 8MM each...but anyway...

But I watched a number of Phoenix games last year and especially in March they looked good offensively...their D was awful though.

Can't see how Brian Lee and Spezza help them.

You never know, though...Murray sent a first rounder to the Isles for Campoli.

And what is this SensChirp rumour based on? It sounds like a recycling of ideas that were floated on this thread months ago.

No clue, but I can actually see Pheonix trying to upgrade at center to be honest with you. Again, they did it with Jokinen, but I do agree Ottawa might have to send a D man back.

Maybe Schubert, Lee, and Spezza kinda thing. Anyways, Senschirp has proven to know close to nothing, so take it with a big a$s grain of salt.

A BIG a$$ grain LOL

Seriously, with the cap threatening to drop I see very few megadeals like Spezza's getting moved. Too much term.

Who knows, really depends on the direction a franchise is trying to take their team. Anything could happen in Pho IMO.

Spezza also lit up Pho this year in that 6-3 win, so maybe that stuck.

I don't think it's that far fetched. Phoenix needs a big name to sell some tickets and Muckler loves Spezza. I could at least see them having some interest in Spezza.

Senschirp used to be really good but it seems like he lost his touch. In the past he called some major trades before they even happened. It's just a rumor though, he's not saying anything is set in stone.

The Coyotes lost about 40 million bucks this year, and they will be supported by the league. Today it was reported that the NHL increased its line of credit to 190 million, partially to help bankroll the Coyotes.

Ottawa would have to take back equivalent money, plus the deal would have to make sense. So Jovocop would have to come this way.

I do think Murray will strongly consider trading Spezza.

I dont even think its a consideration at this point, I dont see how Spezza is here come July 1 unless Heatley is traded before that.

Worst thing that could happen is Spezza getting hurt at the WC. But if it's anything like last year he wont get enough ice to actually get hurt.

Well, there are rumours and there are rumours.

Bruce Garrioch and Eklund deal in rumours most of which have no relation to anything except their fertile imaginations.

The subject is interesting, but the members here have discussed a variety of options regarding Spezza, with far more substance.

The main issue with trading someone like him--especially now--is that, pure and simple, GMs may be reluctant to take on massive multi-year contracts.

Bryan Murray may want to trade Spezza...and several times this past season, he implied he was trying to do so, but didn't find any takers. He also sent all kinds of mixed messages about Spezza, so who knows what he's thinking.

What SensChirp is saying in that blog is nothing we haven't heard before, but that doesn't mean it isn't an intriguing thought.

However, there doesn't seem to have been much thought put into the consideration of the realities attached.

You can dream about trading anybody. Doesn't mean it's feasible or possible.

So you guys are saying that in a grand total of one day, we would get Mueller, Paajarvi and Kadri? I think that would put us directly in prospects ranking Cheering

Now I need Lindy Ruff's phone number to spice things up :??:

I'll take one of their stud - and I mean STUD - prospects and something else to tickle my fancy.

Michalek or Mueller or Hanzel plus their first rounder.

Turris and their first rounder for me.

I'll add in Lee if needed.Wink

Then take Schenn with the pick, and Cowen with ours.

Why on earth would they tamper with that to add a potential problem and questionable character?

If Im Ottawa, and Im being offered Mueller, a 1st, and perhaps Jovonovski to take some salary back and a player Ottawa could use, I do it!

Meuller can imidiatly step in and be the number 1 center in Ottawa as well, the kid is that good, as well as a cheap cap hit.

Something like

Lee and Spezza

for

Jovonovski, Mueller, and Pho 1st.

Ugh. Not a huge Jovo fan.

I'd rather get Turris than Mueller, too.

Of course, this is all speculation at this point. For one, I strongly doubt the availability of Turris.

I think Meuller is gonna be better than Turris honestly. I think you might see Jovo coming back too, to trade the salary which would work out just ifne for Ottawa.

I like Jovo still, he hasnt lost a step or anything like that, just in a situation where he cant really be noticed and his career has kind of stalled.

I think for an Ottawa team looking for a number 1 guy, Jovo MIGHT be able to do the job. Add him to our blueline, the Sens might be in really good shape with our goaltending. I dont think anyone will be crying about offense from the blue line, plus an additional 1st rounder.

Basically, we would add Mueller, Jovonovski, and two 1st rounders next year (assuming they make the team) for Spezza and Lee... Not bad IMO. Fair, even, makes sense, and fills some needs for the Sens.

Six years left, $7 million per year.
