You're better off letting him play 22+ minutes and learning the ins and outs and playing Kuba - Campoli, Volchenkov - Phillips - Picard - Smith IMO.

But yeah, as it stands he'll be in the top 6 for sure. He got tons of ice last year, so no reason to think that'll differ.

So who's going then?

We have Atrain, Phillips, Kuba, Campoli, Picard, Smith, as it stands, we are trying to get Karlsson over here, and we want to sign another D man, plus bell is an RFA. Lee has his work cut out for him if he even wants to dream of being in a Senators uniform next year.

Personally, I think he has no shot.

I've been thinking about this a lot - and I think you might be right. I think another full year of AHL hockey will go a long way to determining if Lee has a future in the NHL (specifically here) or not.

If we bring in a defenceman, that's a possibility, but as it stands, I have him in my top-6.

Well the top 6 in Ottawa are Kuba, A train, Phillips, Campoli, Picard, and Smith. They all have 1 way contracts and are NHL D men. Shouldnt be a lot of debat about that.

I don't know enough about Smith's injury recovery to comment on that, but I don't know if he's going to continue.

Eh. Agree to disagree. I feel the same way about Smith I feel about Richardson: better off the ice than on the ice. And we need more puck-movement.

If we were talking about the playoffs, though, I'd agree with you.

That's a tough one. Is every game next year going to be treated like a playoff game? That's what Hitchc_ock does - and he and Clouston are cut from the same cloth (read: Clouston worships Hitch).

That's an amazingly hard question to answer though. Such different hockey players.

Offense though. Diddle, Smith has a whopping 1 point. That actually hurts.

As it stands right now, those are the top 6. Even then Bell is an RFA and outplayed Lee all year. Produced at an impressive rate as the number 6 guy too, cheaper cap hit as well.

Also, we know Bell is a favorite of Clouston so that plays in his favour there too, and Lee has had his problems both in Bingo and Ottawa with Cory.

I dont think it looks good at all for Lee next year.

Holy Diddle, I thought that was kinda heresay BS. If he comes off the cap, we're running with Lee and we're getting an awesome top 6 guy.

I have a feeling Komisarek is playing himself into a lighter contract than what was expected. He's been average to crappy.

Lee picked it up physically (or tried to) later in the season, but I just dont think he is made to ever be a real top 4 D man in this league, ever.

He will stick somewhere eventually as a number 5, 6 guy I think, but he wont ever live up to the 9th overall pick, and I think Ottawa is becoming far too deep on the blueline for him to ever have a real shot here.

If we sign 1 UFA on the blueline, not to mention Karlsson who will step right in either this year or next, we are just as deep as any team in the East. Lee has a real up hill battle at this point.

The blueline is actually a bright spot if Murray can get something done in the summer. Campoli was a huge move as well, I think that guy will put up close to 50 points next year.

Yep he is a less whinny version of corvo he wants to be here, he will work on his defensive coverage and be just fine. Pair him with phillips he has that steading influnce on young dmen :D:

I think defence is our weakest category in terms of the team itself. That could change if we bring in a UFA though.

Prospect-wise, it's definitely our strongest with Karlsson and Wiercioch, but I wouldn't go so far as to call our blue-line "deep" at this point.

Hopefully you're right.

Anyway, I'm fine with packaging Lee and our first to a team like Phoenix for their first.

Lee has a lot more to work on then just his offensive game. He really doesnt bring anything to the table that the Sens need. They have a fast puck mover in Campoli, a solid all around D man in Kuba, a shut down duo in A Train and Phillips, and Picard has a bomb of a shot that is going to be something to contend with if his defensive game ever comes around.

Karlsson is the big right handed shot coming up the ranks, Wierchioch will eventually be here in 3 years if I had to guess. Ottawa needs a number 1 stud, and Lee isnt even close to that.

Again, Lee has to blow people out of the water for him to stick next year.
