So aside from that do you have any thoughts on how to tweak this roster?

Drop Fisher to play with Neil and Kelly, or that calibre of player and get some talent on the 2nd line.

You're screwing up 2 lines to get blood from a stone. Enough already. Frustrated2

Agreed. It's getting real tired and boring. We clearly overpayed him...very frustrating. There are a lot of things I love about him, but he's just not a guy that can score, plain and simple.

So, are we going to designate Fish a 3rd line grinder from now on? Hopefully Clouston can get more out of him next season. He's gotta start paying out soon.

Tuebert, Frolov, and their 1st

for

Heatley.

Thats more realistic IMO.

Sold...

I'll call Dawg and have him relay the offer to Lombardi.

Fisher still kills penalties and is a hard player to play against. He missed all of training camp and when he came back the train was already off the rails.

If there is 1 guy in Ottawa who OVER achieved in previous years for the amount he was paid, it was Fisher. He has had 1 bad year, at the same time nothing about his work ethic, heart, or general deminor is ever questioned and for good reason.

Is he really anything but a 3rd line C? I know he's being paid like he's a #2 but he's never had more than 48 points in a year and is more like a high 30's to low 40's for points.

I don't know what to think about him anymore, i'm thinking our expectations of him are too high and if that's the case then shouldn't that 4 million be used to get us a real #2 C?

Fisher is paid for the playoffs, its not that complicated. He is one of the few guys that shows up when it matters. Problem is, this year when he got back, things were already messed up.

I don't disagree, but I have a problem paying a guy 4 million dollars to be there when you make the playoffs or when it matters. My #2 C has to be there all the time...my #3 and #4 can show up when it matters.

You're going to have to be patient, the now is gone, its about the future in Ottawa. This is a bad team in Ottawa with a ton of INDIVIDUAL pieces. It takes time to build a team the right way.

Mistakes were made with Spezza, Emery, and a few others in terms of disapline, work ethic, so on. That needs to be corrected, it starts with keeping the leaders (Fisher, Phillips, A Train, Alfi) and you develope your youth based on their work ethic and love for the organization.

The goaltending is sorted out, now you worry about the D and how to build that the right way. Phillips and A Train are exactly the guys you want here to help build the D the correct way.

Tuebert is a nut job though (in a good way). He does not give a F***.

Interesting point about Fisher. He's like Chara in his work ethic and having that rub off on the younger guys might be what helps.

I stand by the early season wish that Fisher plays with Spezza full time on his wing. Spezza can be one of the best if he can play balls to the wall every night - and putting Fisher and Foligno on his line might make him start to 'get it'.

I don't even think he had a bad year. He had a pretty typical year since the work ethic, heart, etc. are intact and that's pretty much all he ever had to offer.

Good for him for getting that bloated deal from the Sens. We'll just have to let other players walk and miss out on free agents to pay for it is all. No biggie.

Put him on RW with Spezza and Foligno for the rest of the year. See if it works.

Rather Fisher be here with a young core than Spezza, no doubt about it.

Although interesting/good news, I don't want defensive prospects. Damn...we need real D-men and guys willing to put in 100% on offense.

The names I've been told is one of...

Harrold, Quincey or Greene,

and one of

Tuebert, Hickey or Voynov.

Personally I'd take Tuebert and Hickey plus their 1st for Heater..

Hickey has more offensive upside than a lot of people give him credit for, and we already know what kind of a shut down tandem they can be together...having those 2 guys as your 5/6 right now would be awesome.

I like Greene's size and the fact he is a right handed shot. His salary could be easily absorbed if Jason Smith can't come back from his injury. Not so big on the length of the contract though. Tuebert is another player that would help. It was suggested Frolov in a package but I think I would ask for Brown first. It could be very interesting to see what Murray could get if indeed LA and Ottawa were talking.

Suggesting that if we start off in relatively good shape next season, with stability under Clouston... we should be able to expect a lot more out of Fish.

Hopefully.

I've heard these words before...

I'd do a deal revolving around Brent Burns and Jason Spezza.

Oh boy did this Post get off track like the Sens Season. Here is hoping that Murray can get an asset in Bozak to add to our depth.

Bozak might play a way bigger role in Ottawa next year then people actually think.

Big changes are coming, there is no reason to stick with the top end guys we have now. They have been failures since signing their conracts and the money we have invested is in the wrong spot.

Murray will build this team the right way.
