Bottom line, Carbo was fired a few games ago, Habs still playing average.

Fair enough...do you have a link to the podcast with the interview? Carbo deserves his full say in the matter...

Atleast no connections to the Mob or criminals that I was aware of in Ottawa.

Uhhh, lol, I wouldnt go that far, but there is def more going on in Montreal... You can ask Blazer too, there was a certain goalie who def had some friends who were involved in organized crime.

oh yes, Mr. Theodore I am assuming you are talking about, that pretty much drove him out of town, or he asked to get out, not sure which one, but he needed to get out of Montreal.

oh my bad on that one, when I read your post, the only thing that came to my mind was Theodore, but I guess his was discussed more publicly as it was his father in law I believe? details for me are sketchy on that one.

I will look for an audio archive of the RDS broadcast...I was basing my comments on the interview transcribed by Corus Sports.

I think the "truth" is already out there. I've heard several reports that Carbonneau felt Price had been rushed into the number one role. I think the organization didn't like all the starts Halak was getting and would potentially be getting. That's what sealed Carbonneau's fate.

I tend to agree SSF; and imagine, Carbonneau was actually putting the team's best interests forward... I guess you never cross big, bad BOB...

Sounds a lot like what happened to The Mullet in Tampa Bay with his assessment of Stamkos being not ready and not giving him the minutes that upper management wanted.

A trendy coincidence; I think not.

One glaring point in Montreal though is even Gainey must be seeing with his OWN eyes that Price is NOT quite ready, or perhaps more specifically not mature enough to handle the pressure; and really with the play of Halak, he certainly can save face and keep Price around as backup.

All bias aside, I wish to tip my hat to Carbo for seeing that and for acting on it in what he felt was the best way to handle it and thus best way to help the team earn more W's than L's...

thankfully for us, Gainey isn't that smart, fired the guy that saw the talent in halak, so more L's will be coming, which means they could possibly lose their playoff spot, which will lead to Gaineys' being tar and feathered in Montreal at some point over the summer.

But stamkos has started to produce and is doing better now with bigger minutes where Price is not doing anything just cant seem to get anything together

very true Hero, and Halak must be not liking that he gets overlooked every time for Price, and he is a big reason that Montreal is even as close as they are. Gainey must be thinking if he keeps throwing Price out there, then something will magically click and he will turn into the superstar the Montreal brass and the coaching staff think he will be. That is a lot on a kid that is barely 20 (if he is even 20)

Price is 21 according to gord last night during the broadcast.. but halak is definately getting the shaft he has been the better goalie and deserves to be the starter right now adnprobably for the rest of the season

If anything, Price is showing everyone first hand that:
1) smoking 2 packs a day will hinder your performance...PERIOD (but I guess we know how he went about losing those extra 15 lbs or so he was asked to lose in the off-season. haha)
2) he was most certainly rushed and then thrust into a role he was both not prepared for and apparently not mature enough to undertake and handle. The extra damage the media and such have thrown at him at best will compound what little self-confidence this 'kid' has or had left, which now they are left with a Porcelain doll; i.e. admired but oh so delicate...

well it is good for us as we love to watch the Hab's demise, but sheesh, good hockey sense should prevail and let Halak get 95% of the starts going into the playoff, which IMO would have guaranteed the Habs a playoff spot, and I think Carbonneau saw that, either from the article posted here or as per someone's comments on this thread, that is partially the reason he was fired as he was neglecting price.
