You know, this doesn't surprise me in the least. Of course Carbo is going to deflect some of the blame and then try to redirect it at a current struggling Habs team. Now, the timing isn't perfect, but with the various news reports (and RUMORS) that all is not rosy in the Habs org and dressing room, this certainly not only gives Carbo some breathing room, but adds fire to an already burning hot topic; so Carbo has had some decent media training for starters.
As for the Habs, whether the fans want to admit it or not, Gainey took a gamble and a HUGE risk by bringing Price into the show as early and quickly as he did, and now the results are clear (while I'm sure Montreal's media certainly didn't help to assuage Carey either) and with a plethora of UFA's and RFA's, who are mostly underperforming and causing a stink, the Habs may find themselves in a mini-rebuild over this off-season and going into next year. Who'd-a-thunk-it?
As Marakh pointed out, the bottom line is Gainey fires Carbo and yet under Gainey's 'leadership,' the team continues to look lost and uninspired. PERIOD. Draw your own conclusions.
