Bouwmeester. We know how enamored Jacques is with Spezza so it must be an E6.

If by some ridiculous combination of luck and stupidity he is right, I would say a signed Bouwmeester for Spezza is a win-win.

He is just getting desperate for Sens fans to flock to his site again. What a douche! He actually had Jokinen to Ottawa as an e2 yesterday. As in Jokinen the guy who just got traded to Phoenix in the off season.

That makes sense doesn't it? Duh. Let's trade a superstar that is locked up long term for a guy we can just sign at years end. His rumours are getting worse and worse. What a joke and I can't even believe people still go there and read them. He's good a roping people into going to his site an dposting and thus lining his pockets with $$'s.

No wonder he is anonymous. I would be too if I made up half the crap he does. I can't believe he gets into all these places with a 'press' pass.

I talked to Dawg tonight..here was his thoughts. I told him about what Turd Head said about Spezza and J-Bo and he quickly excused himself from the phone.

He called back later and I asked why he got off so quickly. Now it's no secret that plenty of teams want J-Bo and Ottawa is among them I imagine (who isn't), but the team he works for is in the midst of trying to get J-Bo.

According to Dawg their team has been told that Florida is still trying to negotiate with him, I wasn't aware that UFA's couldn't talk deal with their teams until Jan 1. Anyway, he said that hearing the rumor, even if it were from Turd Head, meant that he had to tell his boss. This is a touchy subject among GM's because most if not all (including his beloved Burke, yeah sure) do not respect him let along confide in him.

So with that said Dawg gets on the phone and very cautiously explains that even though "You know who" suggests it and it's likely made up, that they should at least investigate it. Should it be true and their team ignores it and misses a chance to counter the offer then they would lose out on the player they believe can help bring them a cup.

All this is to provide some back ground so you'll understand when I say that according to Dawg they can not find a single member of an NHL franchise who has had any talks with Florida about J-Bo other than when you're ready to deal call us. No one, not even a scout to another scout saying would players x, y and z be a starting point.

Is it likely that Eklund has such an inside track that he's getting it directly from Murray or Martin. Not a chance, in fact Dawg guarantees that at this point J-Bo is not on the table for anyone. Not that he won't be traded, and it may even be for Spezza, but all the "buyers" in the NHL are preparing for trade deadline for guys like Fisher, Spezza, J-bo, etc to become available.

I find it interesting that you also mention Fisher to become available. Is that a name just being throwing out there or is there substance to it as I have not seen or heard Fishers name in any rumors as of yet.

Sorry, I am not trying to be a smartass here, but who is Dawg? It would appear that he works for an NHL team. Does he not live in the same city as you? Can you share some insight please.

Dawg's Wife can't tell you anything more than that Dawg is in the employ of an NHL team in some sort of scouting capacity if I'm not mistaken.

Just to clarify PKC is right. My husband played hockey at a fairly high level and then when done, he went out to work like a regular person. After a couple of years he decicded that he wanted to be back working in the sport he loved so he started down the road to become a Scout.

Last Spring he was hired on to scout minor league and university players. Sometimes he's asked to evaulate pro talent. While you would think he would do this in his home town, the oposite is in fact true, he scouts the WHL and Northern Universities so we don't see much of him during the season. Anyway, he used to regularly post to Turd Heads board, but the team he works for discovered his alias and asked him to stop posting. He mostly posted to refute the drivel that Turd Head was posting, but sometimes he commented on other teams needs and players. I'm sure you can see how a GM or President didin't want what their teams view of anothers teams assests to become public knowledge.

As a result he has stopped posting, but they can't stop me from posting, so as long as I'm careful not to cross the line I can feed some information your way.

As for players involved in deals. I only threw Fishers name out because it has been a name talked to Murray about. I don't have any special insight into the Ottawa team, my husbands team is a Western Conf team, but I can tell you what players other GMs have inquired about their availability. That doesn't mean they are being shopped, but when a team is down like Ottawa other teams start to circle and will inquire about just about every player....including Alfie.

Understood. Thanks for clearing that up. It doesn't surprise me that teams are asking about everyone...all trying to lowball Murray too no doubt Wink

Just to get back on track of the thread, in all honesty, I'd be open to trading Heatley over Spezza. We still have Alfredsson as a top top line winger, and the return from Heatley would be so massive without creating a hole in the lineup that the organization could possibly stand to improve immediately and in the long term.

"Without creating a hole in the lineup"? What? Really? Over the past three years, Heater has regularly potted something like 1/5th of the Senators total goals. I'd say that's something that we could potentially miss, and have a difficult time replacing.
