How can there even be a hearing. The video is pretty inconclusive, IMO.

Heh. If the video showed Ruutu's teeth biting the finger clearly off with blood spurting all over the ice as Ruutu chewed on Peters' finger, taunting him and then swallowing it, with Peters' blood filling the rink and draining him of all his blood resulting in his death...

... then yeah, 15 games.

But that did not happen.

I'm now leaning towards a fine only.

So my question is...

Do you know for sure that he bit him. We know the finger was in his mouth, Ruutu admitted as much. Did Peters show the finger to the Ref's? If he did and there was no penalty then that tells me there was no mark. His finger was wrapped after the game, but he didn't unwrap it to show the press the marks. One would assume if it was wrapped that it was bad enough to deserve the bandages, and thus enough physical evidence to warrant a penalty at the time.

All the replay shows is Ruutu turning his head and Peters pulling his glove away from his face yelling. Peters past is dark enough and I don't believe a word he says.

Also if it's a Phone interview it's a fine. Ruutu has already been suspended this year to if he were to be suspended again he would be heading to Toronto/New York wherever these things happen.

Dead serious. I wouldn't stand for that kind of BS if I was Campbell.

The video I've seen is only suggestive and not conclusive - ie: you can't see Peters' finger in Ruutu's mouth with Ruutu biting down. If Peters had injuries on his finger, he should have shown them right away to the refs or taken pics to prove it later for the hearing. I can't see them suspending him on the evidence we have so far, unless there's other stuff we don't know about.

Good point - and that suspension was BS. It's probably nothing more than a warning or a slight fine. Imo he obviously bit the finger on the underside of the glove, but he also let go as soon as the glove (and Peters) was out of his face.

Imo it was hilarious and just more of Ruutu being Ruutu. I can't not laugh when I watch it, just because its such a Ruutu thing to do.
For all those outraged by this: What exactly did you expect when we got the guy who tripped Dion Phaneuf instead of fighting him? This is what you should expect from him. He's the best pest in the NHL. Its nice to finally have some attitude on this team...

Either way this falls, I would suggest Ruutu never consider even thinking about doing something like this again.

Is there even a good camera view to see that he actually bit down on him? If there isn't there's no reason for him to get suspended. How do you prove it. It just looked like his finger was over his mouth...I don't know about this one, I think he can talk his way out of this one. Peters is a Wing Dang Doodle anyway, he's known as being a Wing Dang Doodle.

Heater normally you and I agree. On this one we do not. I preface by saying I love Ruutu. But Peters is an Donkey-tulip. I hate that guy. He fought our goalie when interupting another fight. He is a worse hockey player than Grats was and is not a good fighter for his size. All of the true heavyweights like their chops when they see this POS throwing off the flippers. Peters is a whiney peice of crap and I wouldn't piss on the best part of him.

That hateful talk aside. He stuck his hand in Ruutu's mouth, you get what's coming to you I think. If you stick your hand in my mouth you will come out without fingers. He had a leather glove on and there was no damage. He showed the refs during his tear filled dance. I hate face washing in hockey, it is bush league and good on Ruutu for chomping his mit. I hope Ruutu gets nothing.

Oh Diddle, this whole post is absolutely hilarious. Okay, let me it this way: do what you do Ruutu, but for God's sake be careful, this kind of Dung is NOT looked upon well.

Damn, this post was gold though. :D
