Same with Butler, he's a top-6 guy. So you'd have to get rid 2 of, Spezza, Alfie, Kovy, Mich, Fisher, Folgino, and Regin.
Just wanted to point out where your logic fails you: you named seven players for six top six spots. By your own logic, the team would have to waive, trade or buy-out one of the seven to make room for someone in the top 6.
Just thought I'd point out the downfall to your argument.
My argument doesn't even take into account Butler. Forget about trying to fit him in. He listed
7 guys for six spots.
By his own logic, even without the Sens trying to add Butler to the roster,
they'd still have to move one player to make it a perfect six on the top two lines. I'm disagreeing with that logic.
I'll assume what I've bolded wasn't written exactly how you intended, otherwise I'm not sure how you'd disagree with the logic that you can't fit 7 people into 6 spots, well, unless it was the guys from the movie 'Stuck on you'
To your original post, I guess if we were talking about something other than Butler's chances (or any of our top forward/defense prospects) at making the Sens this season, then you'd have a point. But we weren't.
I pretty much built into my statement what you were alluding to. We currently have 7 top-6 forwards for 6 spots. Hence why we would have to move
2 players if we wanted to bring Butler up.
That was my point, if you don't have Butler (or any of our top level prospects) playing in key situations (PP, SH, end of games, lots of mins, etc) then you'll be stifling their growth. After some of these guys mature (ie winchester) and you can tell they won't be top level talent, then you can bring them up to the big club to fill holes or if they are a top level talent, then you wait till an opportunity opens up and plug them in.
If you want to talk about non-prospect roster moves, I'm open to it. But we've been talking about what to do about our prospects. Play them in the AHL vs playing in the NHL. And what would be the best for their future/career development.
