Looks like our new plan is to distract the opposition by making ourselves look so ridiculous that they're too busy laughing to pay much attention, at which point we score all over their asses. Beautiful.

Awesome. I genuinely do love it -- as you might have guessed by my enthusiasm for Parros.

Ideas for competition, and potential winners:

-- Most likely to be confused with a 15-year-old-boy's 'stache: Spezza, Zubov.

-- Most likely to be mistaken for a dirty Frenchman sporting a dirty disgustache: Vermette, hands down.

-- Most likely to be mistaken for one of those flat, foot-long industrial brooms and/or George Parros: Phillips, Smith.

-- Most likely to gain superpowers from 'stache: Alfie (aka Sampson, gains goal-scoring powers from his 'stache?), Volchenkov (1st guy EVER to use his 'stache to block a shot?), Heatley (just because I've never seen it).

-- Most likely to be mistaken for a pediophile: Bell, Donovan (missing front teeth not helping his case here).

I'm very much looking forward to this. At the very least it might lighten the tension a bit.

Precisely. Anyone remember the Buffalo Sabres' practice before game 4 of the conference finals -- you know, when they, the early favourites to win the East, faced the prospect of being swept by us? What did they do? Took turns playing goal, with the shooters switching from their natural hand to their off-hand.

They came out and won game 4 and managed to avoid the embarrassment of the broom. There's something to be said for getting your mind off of all the BS and just getting back to the basics and letting your instincts take over. For the past few games, it's been painfully obvious that the guys are thinking too much.

I'm all over that ! Should be fun to watch.

On the bright side, at least we'll know that this team is capable of growing facial hair, perhaps unlike some earlier, albeit more skilled, teams of ours.
