Hedman or Tavares?

Well guys, this is what it's come down to.

Hedman is going to look good in a Sens uni though.

MSP is gonna look slick.

I think Hedman, and perhaps try to get a second 1st and hope for MSP.

we wont get the 1st/2nd pick. we might get the 3rd/4th, and get any of MSP, Cowen, or Schenn. Imagine the Battle of Ontario with the Schenne brothers?

I'd be overcome with joy with Hedman, MSP, Cowen, or Schenn. ABT = Anybody but Tavares.

I'd flip if we somehow landed MSP or Hedman. Wow. Instant rebuild.

The somehow would simply continuing the current trend, and having a bit of luck in the lottery. It's time to start jettisoning players from this roster for 1st rounders to up our chances. :D

You acquire one more 1st rounder - and don't get rid of the other 2, man, I bet you could flip those 3 1sts into a 4th overall or 5th overall. Someone might take Schenn and you franking get down on your knees and take MSP.

Think about it...
Hedman, Karlsson, Karlsson, Wiercoch, to add to Volchenkov, and an offseason pick-up of J-Bo. I'll let Phillips retire early, or be the #7 guy.

Who needs a goalie? Heck, even Gerber would look good.
(ok, maybe that's pushing it, but you get the point)

I know it's early in the season, but I am really leaning towards trading off some assets and retooling in the offseason. Gerber is gone, and if we can parlay Vermette, Kelly, Neil and whomever else, into something tangible, plus add a stud such as Hedman or MSP, we'd be going in a better direction in a big hurry. I'd really be targeting the NYI, TB, STL and CBJ 1st rounders if they are attainable. I think Columbus could be relieved of their pick. They have plenty in the stable, and they need to win....in a hurry.

This wouldn't be blowing it up either. I am not suggesting moving the core (except for Fisher, I really am starting to wonder about his worth in relation to his cap hit). We might be able to get these things done without touching the core (save for Fisher).

I was semi-kidding. It would be hard, you`d have to gas Vermette and Kuba and try to pry a 1st rounder out of someone at the deadline.
