Ek just reported that Ottawa is quite interested in Trevor Daley. Anyone have some dirt on this guy? From what I've seen, he fights more than he scores.

When I read that, all I could think to myself was "who the f@cK IS Trevor Daley?" He doesn't seem to have great numbers, but he could probably be had for very little. Anyone ever seen this guy play?

As someone has already mentioned, his numbers aren't great but he does put in a lot of ice time. Not sure this is the kind of guy we need. From the stuff I have found on Youtube (very limited) all he seems to do is fight

all this un-tppaed potential stuff is great when you alreadyhave players on the team doing the job...at this point...I am not sure he is what they need...but Murray must know what he is doing...

Tough, gritty guy. Not a big fighter, but he'll go from time to time. 3rd-4th D pairing on most teams. Minor league (OHL and AHL) numbers suggest he has some offensive upside, but he's played almost 300 games in the NHL and has just 60 points.

Overall, I'm not at all hesitant to say that this is not a guy we're looking at to add offence and puck-moving skill to our back end. BS4 alert.

What Murray is looking for isn't a secret. A defenceman like Redden.
"It's a skilled, back-end guy," said Murray. "There's no doubt that's the main area of concern right now. We know Erik Karlsson is going to be that in the future for us, or at least we believe that to be the case.
"We have a young kid playing (college hockey) in Denver (Patrick Wiercioch, a 2008 draft choice) that we think is another guy, but he's probably a little time away.
"But if we could get a veteran in that spot with the right number of years on a contract, that's the kind of guy we'd like to look at."
It's not going to be easy, because in most cases it comes down to money -- moving one salary and taking on another.
Murray said he wouldn't be unwilling to move one of his prospects, if that's what it takes. Someone such as Vancouver's Mattias Ohlund ($3.5 million) would fit the bill, but he'll be an unrestricted free agent next summer.
"I know there are a couple of teams that would be willing to move a veteran player for a draft pick," said Murray. "But it's right now not for the player I'm looking to add.
"That may happen more as money comes into play with different teams, and they want to do something else, so they're ready to make a deal for something less than a player on your roster.
"The other part is, I think we have several good prospects now and we could use one of them to get the right kind of player.
"I pretty well know the kind of player I want. I don't know the individual name necessarily, but the kind of player we need to help our team."

This was from Panzeri in the Citizen as well.

Trevor Daley isn't they kind of guy we're looking for. Phillipe Boucher would be more along the lines, but he's having a crappy year thus far and is made of glass.

A lot of ice time and numbers that aren't great? Sounds like a defensive defenseman. We've got lots of those.

He is alright, good skater, jumps up into the play a bit, resposible in his own end, and a good shot. Nothing spectacular about him, bu the is solid, wouldnt give up a potential top 6 forward for him though.

For what it's worth: I would have taken Redden back at about 1/2 the $ and term that he signed for in NY.

In any event, I certainly don't miss his apathy. The guy has looked disinterested since he signed that big deal in 2006.

seriously though...who is available right now?

Ohlund...no thanks
Daley...doesn't fill the need

who else...

what players on the Sens are available to sweeten the pot?

I would love to grab Suter out of Nashville...I know...wishful thinking...but Fisher should do the trick...lol...

Kaberle out of TO would also be nice...but they will not do that...but again...if we gave them Fish...who knows...

anyways...I am just throwing things out there...so no lynching please...but seriously...let's make a list of:

What PMDs are available...or would be for the right price...

and what player it would require from the Sens roster...
