2010 USA Roster

Not announced yet, but should be a good, tough team to play against. also very young without the likes of Roenick, Modano and Tkatchuk among others.

Not an easy decision for Buekr and USA Hockey. Unlike Canada, who had an equally difficult decision and plenty of really good players to choose from, Burke has fewer players to choose from but there are a lot of skilled players unlike the number of 3rd-4th line Canadians out there.

If you are the US you might want to have Oshie play against Nash every shift, cause if you have seen the battles before, you know that Nash has a hard time against him.

USA will have a good young fast team. Their speed could cause problems for Canada.

Ryan Whitney? Andy Greene? How about Tyler Myers? I'd take any of those three ahead of Komisarek.

Myers last played for Canada though. Whitney maybe, but don't forget Komi's a Leaf. I'd probably take Matt Greene over Andy. But a lot of teams I have seen have left Erik out, and that is nuts.

Matt Greene? Why? I was looking at D that play a lot of minutes, he only plays 17:21; Andy plays nearly 24 (and has better stats).

Didn't know about Myers. Since he holds dual citizenship, what's his eligibility? I assume you can't flip/flop every year, so there's got to be a rule, and I'd bet he can switch at least once. If Hockey USA gives him a call, I wonder what his answer would be.

You can't flip flop. IOC rules stipulate that once you've played in any international competition for a country, that you can never play for another.

In *any* international competition? Surely it's not that wide. I played a little hockey against the kids from the AMerican Embassy in Moscow (back in '72, we had our own "Summit Series"). Does that mean (forget about skill) that I would not be allowed to suit up for Team Canada?

What about Hull? Did he ever play in the WJC or was it not held back then?

I just googled and found lots of example in the world of figure skating. For example, Marina Anissina was born/raised in the USSR and won the 1990 and 1992 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. She then partnered with Gwendal Peizerat and received an accelerated French citizenship so she could represent France, winning two Olympic medals, including one Gold. Isabelle and Paul Duchesnay represented Canada originally, but won an Olympic Silver for France.

There are exceptions to the rule - I posted them somewhere, but I can dig it up again.

Matt Greene is a character guy and very physical - a shutdown guy. Not too sure what Andy brings though, you seem to know better on him. I just think they will need some tough defenders to shut down the opponents top guns.

What abut the IOC?

As for Andy Greene, all I know is that he gets 1st pairing minutes playing in defense-first New Jersey, and his stats (points, +/-) are better than Matt's.

Are they brothers?

No relation as far as I know.

It says Olympic hockey in the top paragraph, so I assume it applies to it as well.

Just to clarify further, I tried searching for IOC nationality eligibility and came across an article for Great Britain and Northern Ireland, but should apply to all Nationalities. It said if you hold dual citizenship or wish to change your nationality, you must wait 3 years before you can play for the new Nationality.

Myers' has a slightly better chance at making the US teams than Canada, but in a few years he could very well be the new Pronger for Canada.

I would imagine Gionta makes the team as well.

Doubtful. They already have a fleet of undersized scoring forwards, I just don't see any place for him on the team when guys like Kessel, Kane, Drury, Gomez and Stastny are going to be featuring up front.
