So me and Mrs.tim1_2 are planning an all-inclusive getaway in February. I've only been once, to El Salvador, and she's never been down south. Anyone have recommendations or places to avoid? We'd prefer an adults-only place but that's not a deal breaker.

Are you saying you want to go to El Salvador or somewhere else?
I'll be in Ecuador in February. You might want to check out Peru. It's pretty cool there. Nicaragua has lots of cool stuff or Costa Rica but I think it's moonsoon all over the west coast of central in February. I'd suggest South America. (Or south east Asia but I know that's far)

My recommendation is to get all the shots you need and pick a place a place the week before you go. You can use a travel agent or go online and get a last-minute deal. Just make sure you filter on 5-star resorts. Every place has their specialities -- Mayan Riviera you have the Mayan ruins -- highly recommended, Cuba has the gorgeous white-sand beaches, Jamaica is beautiful and you actually drink the water (Canada provided them with water filtration plants), Dominican Republic has amber/silver mines (just stay away from Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna and any place built by In-Gen).

Anyhow, that's my recommendation -- keep your shots and passport up to date and take a flyer on a last-minute deal.

Honestly we're thinking more of a place to sit on the beach and drink instead of adventuring. I will look in to Nicaragua too...monsoon season will be a consideration.

Nica is cool cuz day trips aren’t hard. But Costa Rica has that too. Especially if you go near the manual Antonio national park which is basically like a wild zoo. Meaning you’re guaranteed to see animals. Relaxing on the beach is cool but still factor in a day of something to do. But as far as beach laying vs prices, you likely won’t beat Cuba, or riviera maya, but crime inmexico has me second guessing telling anyone to go there) . But it’s the crowds in Cuba that are ... let’s just say, you Feel like a resort in Florida . Unless you daytrip Havana. Lots of bozos vacation in Cuba. (But I also have friends who do it) so you could be in for having idiots in the resorts. That why I usually welcome the idea of places that are a little more off the grid, usually filters out the people you might want to find yourself away from in the resorts.

But again, if time is short I’d stay clear of anywhere with a Monsoon possibility. Nothing sucks more than stuck in an hotel room for a whole week because of rain... Unless that’s exactly what you’re looking for Naughty

It looks like the Dominican Republic has some pretty great resorts at "reasonable" prices. Mexico was in the running for a while, but the weather in February doesn't appear to be too hot. Average temps in the Dominican are a few degrees higher in Feb (25 C).

That's two days in a row someone says I'm right.

Must be doing something wrong.

Yeah I think the prices are fairly good in the Dominican also. I’m not sure but did they suffer much from the hurricanes?

From what I can tell, they didn't suffer anything significant from the hurricanes.
