If the Leafs pass Boston then the Bruins would fall to the last wildcard spot and face Washington in round one. If they stay where they are they will face the Senators. A little more than a statement game tonight, then. This is for survival.

Ya, they're going to be hungry for a win. I hope the Sens can turn this streak around and fire off a couple of wins. They need to get winning now so that they can roll into the playoffs. I don't care where they finish.

Just. Win.

A win tonight and Saturday will go a long way to reassure us that no matter who we face we can win.
We shat the bed this weekend and there's no two way about it. This team needs to show us they can win against the teams we are likely facing going into the playoffs. The B's have been much better of late regardless of their loss last night. But if we could just help them kick start a little losing streak so that the leafs pass them by then we stand the chance of facing the leafs in the first round and the habs in the second round.

Beating both those teams in the playoffs would be a hell of a late x-mass present!

That loss last night has a bit of an asterisk. The Leafs got a late powerplay on an "egregious" call (according to Cassidy). They scored, then added an empty-netter. Additionally, Bergeron was drilled into the boards from behind by Shostnikov who only received a minor. Bergeron got up and went after Shostnikov and received a roughing minor for his troubles (if he stayed down it's likely a major and a game instead of coincidental minors). I saw a GIF of the play, it was pretty blatant. Should be getting a call from the dopes at DOPS.

All that said, this is a tired team, just finished a long road trip, and one of their top forwards may not be 100%. Sens have to get the early jump and never stop for 60 minutes.

Bruins all over the Senators in the early goings. Arms, sticks also all over, keep that up and eventually the ref will have to call something.

1-0 Sens as Ceci's shot bounces off a skate she through. Pyatt gets the goal, at least for now, as the puck hit Miller's foot.

Phaneuf stealth cross check to Backes' arm, retaliation, powerplay.

Too bad we can't decline.

Too many men call wipes out power play, Karlsson gassed as 4 on 4 expires, 1-1.

Stafford literally jumps in the air to hit Wideman into the end boards.  If you recall,  Wideman isn't that tall. He escapes the worst of the hit she the Sens go back to the man advantage.

Powerplay does a nice job of keeping to the outside, missing the net on the odd shooting opportunity. And another penalty taken while on the power play.

Much better kill that time. Better that the man advantage, actually (they gave up 2 SOG on the pp and zero on the ok).

Phaneuf given a dumb penalty at the end of the second and Boston converts right away to start the third.

Make up call leads to an ineffective pp for the Sens, but they maintain possession as the man advantage expires, and Turris converts a Dion slap pass for his second of the night and #25 on the season.

Third one goal lead for the Senators.

Boro takes dumb penalty with six to go but Send kill it.

Bs continue to press, Rask to the bench with just under 90 second to go. Timeout Boston
