I just got a newer box which is apparently more compatible with some of the better add ons out there. I'll update you when I give it a try.

I used a Reddit scraper add on that worked like a charm for World Cup games but so far no luck with Sens games. I resort to Firstrowsports via Sports Devil now. Same as the internet except there aren't any ads.

Sportsdevil is crap for me on Kodi.  90% of the links never work.  Quality is meh.

Agreed but it's the best I can find so far. Feel free to suggest some better add ons.

IMO, for non-premium channels that include advertising, you should be able to get all of them for one low price or zero.  Is it fair, if folks in TO or other densely-populated (and close to the US border) areas can put up a $40 antenna and get all the channels except for TSN/SNet for free?

I had a look at the bell fibe offering and it is so outdated in comparisson! They really milk you for your money!
With videotron you're still spending 55$ plus rental plus taxes not counting installation which frankly they should absorb as it doesn't cost anything to anyone using internet channels. So you're looking at 80$. Way too steep.

They're all in cahoots. You'll save on programming with one provider but it will even out with other charges (rentals, etc.)

VMedia has 17/mo. basic cable but you have to rent or buy their equipment.

I guess they had a Roku app too but:

Oh for sure. This is a complete ogliopoly . We are getting full on scammed. Completely uncapitalistic where they won't let supply meet demand. But that's the system we live in! In other countries like in the EU it's way more competitive and the deals are much better.. I'll just keep on checking those YouTube streams in protest Wink

The best solution (assuming you can't do OTA) is to switch every 2 years, and alternate between the streaming services/premiums (Netflix for 4 months, HBO for 2-3 for GoT, others).

By the way, Rogers is shutting down Shomi. They were giving it away to their internet subs and likely not getting too many others to actually "pay" for it. Does that mean that Crave wins? Or will Bell also pull Crave? I'm hoping it's the latter, so they can sell the distribution rights to Netflix. I'd be willing to pay $12/month for a full Netflix catalogue (well, $12/month for 4 months a year, at least).

I've always streamed games, if you're worried about certain sites than I suggest you go the Reddit/Youtube route. The quality can be great and you don't have to worry about suspect websites and pop ups.

I picked up an Android box over the summer so I'll see if I can stream games through it, I'll let you know if it works well.

Why don't you? Netflix is only 10$

Right now, with just "Canadian" catalog content, Netflix is only worth it for the Netflix Originals. For example, the Luke Cage S1 is out recently. But I'm holding out for S2 of Jessica Jones and a couple of non-Netflix shows (The Fall, Broadchurch, Sherlock). There's no point paying for it and not using it. Where HBO is concerned, we were still watching a couple shows on Space (part of the package) and the boys re-watched GoT over the summer, so it was really just September that HBO was unused (now we have West World).

Alright, yeah, let me know. And let me know if games are blacked out through the Android box.

Whenever you find a quality youtube stream of a game can you message me on here and i'll embed it on the main page so everyone looking can view it?

They're not. A lot of feeds originate from the UK and throughout Europe. The only blackouts I encountered were from links that took you to "official" broadcasts, all of which were soccer anyway.

Most of the time. There are hiccups like buffering and SD picture quality to contend with. I'm new at it and I have a newer box that I've yet to try so I still have some testing to do.

I think the time is coming for me. It won't be long.
