From the Sun today: apparently, Hartsburg is planning to split up Heatley and Spezza in an attempt to shake things up.

http://www.ottawasun.com/Sports/Senators/2008/10/20/7145831.html

Brennan's story attempts to list the lines, but he only has 8 players in the top 9 with Spezza not listed anywhere. I think he meant to say

Heatley - Fisher - Alfie
Foligno - [Spezza] - Winchester
Vermette - Kelly - Ruutu
Schubert - McAmmond - Donovan/Neil

but I could be wrong.

Oh my God! I've been waiting for this forever! Finally a coach who is willing to try it... Although I think you keep Alfie with Spezza, don't like the fact he's with two other young guys... I think this will be a good thing, Hopefully Spezza can rise to the challenge...

I like that top line. Many people may disagree with me on that but I think that could be a seriously potent line.

Lets hope Spezza is able to step up and be a difference maker when not on a line with Heater and Alfie. I have faith he can do it I just hope Hartsburg sticks with it even if it takes a while to get Spezza going.

Yeah, just got this in my inbox form Sportsnet:

Jason Spezza has been taken off the top line with Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson. Mike Fisher has replaced him there. Spezza now centering line with Nick Foligno and Jesse Winchester.

Let the shakeup begin!

Spezza is playing the best of the three right now, so I like the move at least to try it.

I would however rather see:

Foligno-Spezza-Vermette

Finally!! I love those top two lines, now if we can somehow get Bass back in the lineup for

Vermette - Kelly - Donovan/McAmmond/Schubert
Neil - Bass - Ruutu

then have someone break Gerbers leg, call up Elliot, I'd be a happy camper.

Finally! Diddle a doodle doo it's about time!!

Spezza is ready to start making his magic with Vermette and Foligno (or others), move him down to the 2nd line and try to jumpstart Vermette (we know Foligno can take care of his own Dung). Nice.

Or Winchester, but I would suggest you go Foligno - Spezza - Vermette.

Fisher with Heatley and Alfie is going to be delicious.

If you can't beat 'em (Fisher into taking a wing position), then join em (by putting Fisher in a offensive position with Alfie and Heater).

Diddle this garbage about lines 1 and 2 being checking lines - now Kelly, Ruutu and Neil or Winchester or whatever-the Diddle ever can be the bonafide shut 'em down line.

While it's a great idea to get Spezza/Heatley apart (at least to try it out), having Fisher on the top line will be interesting, and hopefully will get him out of his slump.

Getting Vermette going is key also, and I like your line suggestion with Spezza.

Is it gameday yet?

I would definitely see if we can get Vermette going offensively - and what better way to do that that putting him with one of the game's best set-up men. :D

Now why did this take so long I wonder? I would've had Spezza and Alfie together and Fisher and Heatley together more than once already.

Yeah exactly.. I'd like to see Alfie and Spezza on one, then Heatley and Fish on another, I think that would be better balanced....

Fisher on Spezza's wing and Vermette centering Alfie and Heatley would be an interesting combo. Throw Foligno up with Spezza too.

Spezza and Vermette are both good in the faceoff circle, but then this plan is contingent on Fisher playing wing, which never seems to happen.

This is what Fisher gets for not being able to adapt:

I personally love the idea of Alfie Fisher Heatley and I really believe that could potentially be an unstoppable line combination.

Oh yeah me too... but it's the second line, I fear they may be pretty bad when they don't have the puck...
