The Leafs aren't going to trade JVR...he can be part of the solution there.

By the time he's part of the solution, he'll be 30 or older though. In that 5 years, if you can turn him into a high pick or high end prospect/package, I think you at least look at it.

This would be like us trading Turdis or ZBad. Yeah, if the return is craycray, you think about it, but it's not something you're going to proactively pursue. Phaneuf and Kessel will be long gone before the Leafs try to deal JVR.
