I wonder if the Sens really wanted to pay Clarkson. The next Bryzgalov

It's funny how, officially, the standings show them with a "Lost 1" streak. They have lost 4 in a row but that SO and OT losses break up the 6-0 and 4-2 regulation losses on either side.

For the month of November they have scored 25 goals in 13 games (1.92 GPG) yet managed a slightly winning record of 6-4-3 (15 points in 13 games). Mind you, giving up 11 goals in back-to-back games -- don't know if their goaltending will continue to prop them up.

They have 3 shootout wins; if the Sens had that they'd be 4 points back of the Leafs with a game in hand.

So, who's the GM in Toronto now anyway? How soon until Nonis and Carlyle are let go?

Most unfortunate that the Leafs are slowly starting to act a little smarter. Not only bad because it's fun to laugh at Ol' Bluey, but also because it poses direct competition to our beloved SENATORES.

I don't see anything they've done that is overly smart

Not being stupid is smart if we are talking about the Leafs... they were not stupid this off season.

Exactly. Their failure to hand out even one ridiculous contract was...disturbing.

Don't look at it that way. My roommate is an avid Leafs fan and he is furious with their moves this off-season.

Adding Booth, Winnick, Kontiola?, Komarov, Frattin and Santorelli look like low-risk moves because of the cost and term of the contracts but it's prevening players like Ashton, Holland, Biggs, Gauthier, etc from developing. The Leafs may be more 'experienced' and 'grittier' now but they also have no cap room, 17 forwards on their roster, and their defence and goaltending did not improve (aside from Robidas - who is one lower-body hit away from retirement). Still don't have a #1 center, still have Phaneuf for another 7 years. Have they re-signed Kadri yet? Pretty surre the Leafs are right against the cap....with Gleason and Gunnarsson still counting against it. Going to be a long season in Leafs land - that is once the parade ends sometime around mid November.

Don't be worried. The Leafs still suck and the moves they made can't be justified.

I *want* them to meet up in the playoffs because the Sens could go on and win four Cups in a row but until they beat the Leafs in the post-season every Leafs fan will still point to the four times in a row that they eliminated us.

Leafs are very limited with the roster moves they can make due to the cap. I'm getting the sense that Nonis is no longer in charge and that Shanaban is taking over.

Excellent! It's hard to hate an incompetent like Nonis. But I've had a grudge against Shanaban since he dissed the Sens with the fake bike interview.
