Sounds right. So it'll probably be the opposite.

I will be so surprised if the Sharks can win this. They look like they're heading towards Failure Way.

They really do deserve a W, but Niemi will have to steal it for them. You know Quick is going to be on top of his game.

Exactly. The Kings know how to win, the Sharks don't, gonna be really tough.

I just hope I can stay awake long enough to see it all. Gonna need a couple coffees.

This would be the 2nd time Carter and Richards have accomplished this as well... they know what's up.

Yeah, the entire LA Kings team pretty much knows what to expect tonight. The Sharks are trying desperately not to crap their pants at the mere thought.

I like LA tonight.

Or, if you're like me, you just man-up, ditch your other responsibilities, and watch them live.

I've got BellFibe (now); I'm also recording a couple of sitcoms (Suburgatory and Modern Family) -- not sure if they are reruns. Should be doable. Can't watch all of it live because I have to pick my son up from work at 9. Oh, well.

Has your kid not heard of the bus? Jesus, you coddle your children. Don't let your lazy kid get in the way of you being lazy and watching hockey! WHO RUNS YOUR HOUSEHOLD, W.P. RAGER?

They have way more stamina when it comes to arguing, and they outnumber us 2-to-1.

Seriously, though, because of the wonderful job OC Transpo does with planning routes and schedules, it takes him two buses and about an hour to get from Morgan's Grant to the Centrum. Or about 10 minutes by car. And if his shift starts at 4:30 (like today) he literally has to get off the school bus, cross the street and take the OC Transpo bus. This means he has to go to school wearing his work clothes (read: not jeans). And even though he has to hurry (and hope the school bus is not late) he ends up getting to work a half hour early. Public transit is great in the downtown core or in Mayor's Pet communities like Barfhaven but it sucks out here. Plus it's raining.

By the way, Niemi is confirmed as the starter.

Well for arguments sake, yesterday someone had made the point that Miller = Niemi. SJ will certainly look for an upgrade if they lose tonight.

SJ will have to if that's the case. Also, whoever said that Miller = Niemi doesn't watch much hockey.

tim1_2 wrote:As you say, Prags, a first round exit against the defending champion Blackhawks is no reason to over-react.  The West is a meat grinder and good teams go out in the first round...it's just a fact.  If the Hawks went out against the Blues, no one would be panicking in Chicago...it'd just be a "yeah, Dung happens" scenario.

Well the Hawks have won 2 Cups in very recent memory, and after a long Cup run, short summer, compressed schedule and sending nearly half your team to the Olympics I think they would have gotten A LOT of rope.  Situation with the Blues is a little different.

Blues are young and have a big window of opportunity.  They lost against arguably the best team in the NHL.  No reason to change much of anything.

I agree that they have a big window, but that doesn't mean that they should let it ride. There's no reason not to add a high-scoring player if they can, especially if they're upgrading with picks and prospects. If the only change to the current roster is an upgrade, and they're padding with non-roster players and picks, then they're better prepared to beat the best teams.

Not being good enough to beat the best teams is actually one of the best reasons to make changes. The whole point is to be the best, no?
