He was just trying to be polite and not call him out by name, saving him a bit of public flogging. Instead that blowhard Therrien comes out and says his name, like it was some kind of knock against MacLean. I hope MacLean lets it slip that he just didn't want to call a player out by name.

Do you really believe that?

I think he was trying to make Montreal players seem like insignificant unknowns.

I seriously doubt Mac is like that at all. He's way too down to earth for that.

Apparently not. I'm not going to be so much of a homer do pretend that "Mac" didn't handle this thing callously and classlessly.

Nothing I like more than to $hit all over opposing players and wish nothing but misfortune on them but I'm a fan. There's a line, isn't there?

I dunno....that was the first thing I thought of as well. It wouldn't have hurt anyone's feelings if he had just said Diaz made an bad pass to Eller and Eller got hit by my player. We feel bad for Eller, but we don't think that's a penalty or a suspension.

I turned to my wife when he was saying it and I said that it showed major disrespect for the Habs. Mac knows who 61 is - and if he doesn't, he really should.

My opinion of PMac is pretty solidly set.

Look, I'm not saying he's not the best coach we've ever had and I'm not saying he doesn't know what h's doing, but I question this particular decision because it sounded bad and it rattled their cage something fierce over there. If we had responded by kicking their arses, then that's different, but we didn't - at all.

The arse kicking will come very soon, old friend. Cheers

I doubt that Therrien went in the room and used that to rev them up.

By the way, wouldn't it be hilarious if they got some stuffed walruses and put them all over the visitor's dressing room?

The Hoff is at the optional practice.

Hmm, Hoff might be an interesting player to draw in.

I hope he'll try others first, frankly. And don't anyone say Regin. He had 3 goals in 6 games, true, but he didn't create any of those chances. We need either someone who will bust through everyone to get to the net, or a playmaker (Spezza). Regin is neither of those.

Spezza and Hoffman both skated today but are not close to returning.

This is from Garrioch's latest article:

When Spezza had the procedure, the hope was he would return in time for the playoffs. His timeline continues to be a mystery, but at this juncture it would be hard to believe he’d play again this season.

Then, of course, there is this one, that claims he's going to be back Sunday:

http://www.985sports.ca/hockey/nouvelles/spezza-de-retour-dimanche-face-au-ch-236984.html

Mike Boone is a respected sports writer. I still remember him from back when I lived in Montreal.

Not much to it, but Boone mentions there's speculation:

There is speculation Jason Spezza will be back for the potentially pivotal game 3 on Sunday.

The Ottawa centre has been out so long MacLean may have forgotten Spezza’s number.

Goo goo g’joob

Like I said when Cowen came back, Karlsson will (and has) and Spezza will come back seemingly out of the blue.
