Well, MacLean did say they were going to approach the last 7 games as a "best of 7" playoff series.

The won the first 4.

Sweep.

Series over.

Watching Carolina just slowly take over the game and Anderson totally giving up on that play by Skinner that EK had to bail him out, it's just sad to see that sort of thing with playoffs looming.

New Jersey clinched a spot but they're still winning.

It's just weird. We played the Islanders and beat them 5-0 (that goal was kicked in, KICKED IN, I tell ya); then the Isles play the Devils and come up just short (3-1, but the last goal was an empty-netter). The Devils play Carolina and steam roll them by that "same" 5-0 score; then Carolina comes in and beats us in another close game. Carolina has Ward; the Islanders don't. Plus the Devils were playing a Division rival. And they didn't have problems with the refereeing. Plus, last I saw, we are still 4-1 in our last 5, same as the Devils.

Clinched the playoffs the day before, facing your probable playoff opponent the next game, CAR coming off an embarrassing loss & looking to tighten up. Not unavoidable, but rather predictable.

As for playing every game like it's game 7, well, sure, that's the ideal -- but I don't think there's any player, let alone an entire team, that doesn't slip up now & then, in spite of individual & organizational desires. It's a long season. Let's just hope the Sens remember how hard they had to work to get to the playoffs, and to play every game they have there with that game 7 intensity.

Yes, what Poo said. Sens Army needs to take a breath this morning. Obviously you want to build momentum heading into the playoffs, but we still have two tough games remaining to do that.

I'm not overly concerned that we lost that game personally, but I do agree that with MacLean saying that they wanted to finish out strong and prepare themselves for the playoffs - it didn't look very good.

As always with this team, you allow them the benefit of the doubt, they just clinched, they looked all over the place and sloppy, Gilroy was in and sucked as usual, Neil got 2 penalties for playing hockey. We'll see how they rebound Thursday.

Now's not the time to be getting into slumps and playing "tentative" as they were before, that's all.

Tomorrow's game will be huge, 1st round matchup preview.

Yeah, it should be easy enough to shake that off and get back to it tomorrow. Gilroy played 18 minutes...basically enough said right there.

Also, they got robbed a few times by Ward - which they should take a serious lesson from when they're about to face Thomas 7 straight times. Look at the video of that, figure out what you have to do (drive the bleeding net!) and practice it tomorrow.

Also...can Karlsson please get 4 more points? Please? Smile

So, we can expect Gonch to draw back in and Gilroy sit next game?

If he's healthy, I hope so.

But he does suck. He's screened our own goalie several times for a goal with only a small number of games in a Sens uniform.

He can't pass, almost all of his streatch passes are incomplete, either intercepted or outright miss their target.

He pinches like Karlsson but misses the net, assuming he gets a shot off.

He skates well, that's about it, he's awful. Worst player on the team, Carkner's actually gotten better and he's been injured most of the year so he's at a disadvantage.

Not saying he's not bad, but give it a rest. He's not the reason they lost yesterday yeesh Facepalm

People are blaming him for the first carolina goal? r u kidding me? Anderson has to be better there. Bet if it was Karlsson, no one would say a thing.

I didn't say we lost because of him, I just said he is terrible.

They're going to have to find another right handed puck mover in the offseason.

Not directing that comment at you. I agree, he's not good, and Carkner is better than him at this point but I just wish people would stop trying to come up with excuses for the snes loss yesterday. They clearly didn't care enough to win, their heads and hearts weren't in it since they were looking forward to Boston as the statement game.

The whole Carkner/Gilroy choice seems to spark a lot of discussion... heh heh.

But....Gilroy so noticeably sucks...I don't know what else to say. It's shades of Picard all over again, where he's okay offensively, but crap defensively and it always leads to cluster diddles in our zone.

Anderson wasn't great at all, he looked disinterested, but he's been amazing all year, Gilroy...has not.

And I was simply eluding to the reason he was IN was because Gonch was OUT.

Irrespective of who we played and if we had won or lost...
