100% the right call.

Don't underestimate Russia. That young goaltender is nothing short of amazing. Just wrote himself a first round draft pick.... He's only 17...
Canada will have to shoot often and from everywhere. Come on Stone...

I agree, unless we lose and he lets in a soft goal, in which case, I disagree.
Is anyone else really nervous about tonight's game? All of our games have seemed "easy" up to this one, and it could be a big kick in the teeth, especially if we fall behind early.

Viscentin has let in a softie every game and been thoroughly outplayed by Wedgewood. No brainer here, regardless of the outcome.

I have a better chance at being drafted in the 1st round than he does. No chance he's a first rounder, none.

Don't talk too fast. If he wins the Gold while absolutely robbing Canada and whoever is in the finals, he's got a chance.
Don't you know scouts and GMs love to evaluate draftees in the WJC?

Most scouts and GMs know it's too small of a sample size. In the end this tourney is not a big deal when it comes to the draft. Collberg has more points and goals than Yakupov.
No chance this RUSSIAN (clue #1) GOALIE (clue #2) is drafted 1st round. If he is, I will come back to this thread and admit I was wrong.

Small sample size but it's also the biggest exposure you can get as a draftee, because a lot of teams won't go in the middle of Siberia to watch a russian goalie 1 game, let alone 5+, which you can do here. Ask any scout they'll tell you the World Juniors is definitely a big deal, IF you shine. I've heard the Murrays and Dorion mention this multiple times. It's not the most important factor, but it's an important enough one. Shining against the best in the world, who are all older than you are is big deal.
Unless you're an undersized european.
Fact is, Sens scouts have probably seen Zibanejad play 3 o 4 times live last year.
Here you can see prospects 5+ times.
Varlamov as a backup was drafted 1st round and you think the best goalie in the WJC (still hypothetical here) has no chance to be?

Varlamov was a while ago. Things have changed since then. Notice all the goalers and Russians being drafted 1st round? Yeah, not a lot.
I stand by my statement: no chance.
