After their last loss I wouldn't be surprised to see the Czech Republic come up big especially with the goalie they have.

Funny, I caught Donovan on Team1200 the other day talking to The Scratches, I think. They were talking about Prince not making the cut, and how the US is *sooo* deep at forward that getting cut should not be considered like such a bad thing. Then they go out and score 1 goal against Finland.

The US team will be fighting for their lives. They are still considered one of the top four (and some saying they should be considered top two) so I think the Czechs won't know what hit them. But Shabbs is right -- if they lose, it's a disaster.

What is the format for the playoffs? I see a total of 11 TBD games scheduled. There's the final, the consolation (I think), the two semis, and the 4 quarter-finals, which leaves 3 games, or 6 teams. I really should know this, but I think the top teams in each group get a bye to the quarter finals, so those 6 teams in the remaining three games means that the top 4 in each group qualify.

Finland, USA and the Czechs all have 3 points after 2 games. Finland has a gimme against the Danes (I don't think the Danes have anything left after last night). If the US loses in regulation they will need to beat Canada in regulation, and hope that the Czechs lose in regulation just to advance. It's an easier climb out of the hole for the Czechs if they lose, as they will need to win against the Fins while hoping the US team loses against Canada. There's lots of slight variations because of the non-regulation points (2 for a win, 1 for a loss) but the bottom line is if the US lose in regulation they will need a miracle to advance.

Just trying to rationalize an Ottawa 67 getting cut. Plus the US have a bias against CHL players like Hockey Canada has a bias against NCAA players.

Not really, it has to do with the US National Team Development Program. Shane Prince and Noesen and Jared Knight were never in the program.

For example, Emerson Etem and Brandon Saad play in the CHL but they once played for the US U-18 national team so they're good to go.

Is there a stream for the 3:30 game? I'm visiting my folks and they have *NO* sports channels. This is the one time I can curse Videotron and their a la carte programming. With Rogers even the most basic package has at least SNET and TSN SD.

Aargh! Livetv.ru doesn't have the game -- they have the Sweden game later, and the USA-Canada game tomorrow, but nothing for USA-CZE.
