Very possible, but I hope you're wrong. If he does produce at the same rate, he should have 22 goals, 25 assists, and 47 points. I don't think that's out of the question. It'll be a feat, but it's definitely possible.

Unless you meant that he won't produce at the rate that he did when he started producing. How many games did he play before he opened up? 7? 8? Something like that? Knock 8 games off the total to account for his slow start and we get into some crazy numbers. 29 goals, 32 assists, and 61 points. I don't see him reaching those splits.

Either way, it's likely that he'll come down to earth to some degree, but the potential is there. He was extremely productive once he got going. We'll see.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but did not Butler's offense start picking up when they put him on a line with Spezza?

I can't remember if he played with Spezza before he opened the floodgates, but he was definitely playing with JS towards the end when he was productive. Butler is a finisher. He's exactly what we need on that line (that is, he's exactly what we need if he can build on his success last season).

It must be...damned if I can't remember for some reason, but I do remember him going 12 games and not doing much, then being sent back to Bingo, then being re-called and starting to score in waves.

There must be a correlation.

He needs to pump iron in a big way, legs, arms, core, the whole 9, then maybe he won't be knocked off the puck as much in the neutral/defensive zone. It also can't hurt if his core gets stronger for getting into the areas he sneaks into to score - which comes pretty damn naturally to him. So far, he's got the finisher instinct, something very few guys on the team have.
