There's no accounting for stupidity. It's really mystifying how these people are so out of touch with the NHL, yet they feel the need to post to the Sens Facebook, message boards, etc about stuff.

I've occasionally clicked on them in the past, the extent of the stupidity is just shocking.

I thought the average fan in Canada is more knowledgeable than that.

The thing that's giving me a chuckle is the perception that is out there that Ottawa desperately needs to take on some other team's dead weight in order to make the cap floor.

The Sens are over the cap floor - it's just not reflected on sites like capgeek because guys like Filatov, Condra, Rundblad and Cowen are listed as non roster. Even if you assume Da Costa and one of Rundblad or Cowen start the year in Bingo, we're still probably over $50 million once Butler signs.

Yeah, Chirp's really good for giving props when they're due. Good stuff, we're developing some top end posters here. We don't have the numbers that HF has, but it's a hell of a lot more informed (IMO).

When you think about it, though, you can either have the numbers, or the quality. Fact is, the *average* fan is not only uninformed (or ill-informed), but simply not capable of sorting through the mess, figuring out what is true and what is made up, and then combining information from different sources to make the connections that lead to informed opinions or conclusions.

So, if we were to have numbers like those other sites, the quality would go down.

Although we do allow the occasional fluff-fest.
