I think this is old news on these boards by now, but Wick has left the Sens organization and has signed in a Swiss League.

Also, the Sens have signed Mark Parrish to a 1-year, 2 way contract. Parrish had 17 goals and 51 points in 57 games last year for the Portland Pirates of the AHL. Should be a good replacement for Wick.

My personal opinion on Wick is that he gave up a year too early. I know the people are out there that think he had no chance at all, but if he had continued to develop his core strength, he could have lit it up in Bingo and at least had one final shot at the NHL - something that I wouldn't have given up no matter what.

As it stands now, he'll likely never see the NHL again. Whether he cares or not is a different story, but I assume he did if he came to NA in the first place.

Then there's another part of me that wants to weed out the guys who aren't 100% committed. If you can't hack it, go away - and I guess Wick did (coupled with a monetary offer that was likely much better than it would hav been here).

If you want to earn a half mill *minimum* for playing 5-7 minutes a night ('cause that's what 4th liners play) then you'd better be prepared to bust your a** to get there. Wish him luck but, on the other hand, good riddance.

That was pretty much the first thing I thought too. We're weeding out the weak right now, see you later Wick.*

* I have nothing against him though and wish him well.

Signing Parrish is a nice no-risk move. You know what he'll do...helps keep some veteran leadership in Bingo when some of the more experienced players are moving on.

And hopefully score 20+ if he lines up next to Locke.

Absolutely...plus potentially more. I haven't seen the guy play in a while though.

Former 30 goal scorer in the NHL. Something only Alfie and Spezza can also claim.

But he better not play in the NHL, we need those spots to go to our kids.

Hit 17 in 56 games last year playing with Byron and Luke Adam (who's awesome), so putting him next to the reigning AHL MVP should net him a few more for sure. That's if he takes Keller's spot next to Locke, he might be paired with someone speedy like Caporusso potentially.

I haven't seen him player for a while either, hearing he's lost his NHL speed, but the AHL is much more forgiving for that.

Yeah, I've seen some silly comments from Sens fans wondering how he'll make the top 6 in Ottawa... I don't think they realize this is a "straight to Bingo" signing...

Sigh...

There's no accounting for stupidity. It's really mystifying how these people are so out of touch with the NHL, yet they feel the need to post to the Sens Facebook, message boards, etc about stuff.
