61.4% of eligible voters turned out at the polls. That's up slightly from 58.8% last election. BTW, my riding had an over 70% voter turnout.

WTF is wrong with this country.

This country didn't want huge tax hikes, that's what.

Or backdoor deals with seditionists.

For those who are click-averse, this candidate went on a trip to Las Vegas during the campaign, continued to work at a pub in Ottawa, and even though she has "questionable command of French" managed to win her riding of Berthier - Maskinongé (she lives in Gatineau, the riding is around Trois Riviers -- closer than Las Vegas, but ...)

It's stories like this that should provide some solace to all those afraid of a Conservative Majority. The Conservatives will need to tread lightly because if they aren't in line with what the electorate wants then the rest of Canada may throw their votes to NDP in the next general election in the form of a protest vote a la Quebec.

Would people prefer an NDP minority of even majority next election?

I don't think I could ever vote for Layton, but this major shift is probably a very good thing. It'll keep the PCs on their toes, it will tell the Liberals to get their heads out of their a$$es, and it'll tell the rest of Canada that Quenec is staying, so deal with it.

They have a majority, they can pretty much do what they want. They haven't
cared what the electorate wants so far, why would they start caring now ?

They'll care now because they won't want the NDP to get their votes in protest NEXT election. What happened in Quebec shows that protest votes work.

There we go. That's why I voted the way I did yesterday, so this Dung for brains would re-sign and hopefully the Liberals get their act in order.
