Elliott

If Clouston uses this for more than 10 minutes, this is a massive chance for Regin to finally get on a roll. FingersCrossed

I’m not exactly sure where the Carkner-hate stems from, but I am a big Carkner fan. Yeah, he’s not a legit top three defenseman, but I think he brings a great combination of toughness and reliable defense to our team.

At this point, and for his cap hit, I’d much rather have him than Phillips. He’s still learning and developing, and you can’t question his willingness to compete…plus he’s a top-notch fighter.

He's a 5 at best and people judge him like he's Top 4. Ottawa gets plenty of bang for the buck from this guy and you want to talk about "good in the community?" Take a look at what he does. I guess he's not GQ enough for that to count, though. Laugh1

Although i agree that Greening absolutely deserves it right now, I think I prefer him staying in Bingo for now. He's really finding his rhythm lately, having 13 pts (7G 6A) in his last 11 games, to go along with 33 shots and two fights in that span. So yes he does deserve a shot, but I don't see him getting top 6 minutes in a recall, and something like that could cause him to fizzle a little.

O'Brien is more of a player who can step in and play bottom 6 minutes, and since he plays a similar game (albeit more minutes) in Bingo, I don't think limiting his ice time will affect him too much.

Only O'Brien is a C, isn't he? And can't Locke play wing?

Anyway, this is just Clouston saying that Locke will get a chance at some point. No way he was going to get it this time no matter what.

Yeah, I thought O'Brien was a C as well.

They're all centers (Regin, Foligno, Locke, O'Briend) but Fisher is a warrior.

Yeah, that might actually be the sentiment. This is Greening's first pro year, let him continue to develop properly and have top 6 success. I think he'll get 2-5 games in once the trade deadline has come and gone though.

He has forgotten he is a bottom pairing defenceman. He pinches every single time the puck comes his way, I don't mind aggressiveness but hoy crap sometimes you need to have some judgement. He seems to have been watching Karlsson too much as well, he hangs on to the puck much longer in his zone this year when compared to last year. My advice to Matt is to remember what got you here and stop trying to prove you are a well rounded defenceman, chip off the boards, play mean and tough (maybe a little dirty) and back off the offensive blue line once in a while so you aren't chasing down a 2 on 1 every 2nd shift.

Good points and pretty much in line with what McGuire had to say about him this morning ... although they also discussed mixed message (tone down the toughness/fighting because we can't afford to lose you for 5 minutes) and the impact that (mixed messages) might have on his performance ...

Losing a d-man for 5 mins has more of an impact than losing a forward for 5 mins.

Yes, this is what I would say as well. Remember the role on the team.

I think that goal he scored in the playoffs has him thinking he could be the White Buff.
