That would be beyond wasteful. My guess is that CC does the right thing and plays him on the 1st line and that BB gets 2nd PP duty (if not 1st). They didn't call him up (I hope, I hope, I hope) to play a grinding role and work his way up the lines. If he isn't there to try and inject some top-line production, then I'm at a loss.
FingersCrossed I guess.

LOL

Great sense of humour! (and we are going to need a sense of humour to get through this year)

Haha that would definitely be the right thing to do. Although butler has played 2 straight games. Maybe he doesn't play tonight but will on Tuesday?

See...you can see where people who've been calling for Butler for the last two weeks would be a little frustrated. He played last night and the night before for Bingo, this is his 3rd game in a ROW. Not smart, sorry, not trying to criticize Murray, I like him a lot, but what is Butler supposed to do in his 3rd game in less than 72 hours?

I've really liked Foligno's game. He's been strong on the puck and has been creating plays. He created a few chances on his own yesterday, and even had a strong set up for kelly against San Jose. I don't see the point in sitting Foligno, his desire is there, he's doing many right things, including backchecking, just for whatever reasons he's not producing points. I don't really see the purpose in benching him.

Winchester maybe, but he had a solid 3rd I felt. But he needs to get back to playing a hard game. If he goes back to playing soft, then we have zero need for him on this team, and Z Smith should replace him. I have been disappointed with Ruutu's irritation skills this year, as in lack thereof. He needs to get back to that, otherwise he becomes redundant, and again, can be replaced by Z Smith.

Butler, however, was really good playing with Fisher and Foligno last year. They brought good speed together, and really kept the defence on their heels, hopefully they'll get back to that, and stop entering the zone with speed just to stop and let the defence get set. Help from Karlsson, and Gonchar, and maybe Kuba and Campoli to enter the zone with speed (as SD has been saying) will definitely aid with that as well.

I don't think they would have called him up if they weren't going to play him tonight. With cap space being as precious as it is; Butler - and any other callup - is/are getting paid by the day; not the game. IMO Butler plays tonight; it would actually be a foolish waste of money if he doesn't play against the Rangers.

How effective will he be though for 3 straight games? I guess it happens in bingo but even that is pretty rare. Probably right that he plays though

You're right. It is a less than ideal situation when you look at it like that, but something that can be overcome if placed with the right linemates; he can still impress. Butler should have an energy and emotional reserve to draw from in times like this.

If Butler is placed on the 4th line, I think that is where there will too many things to try to overcome to look good.

Yeah, the least they can do to give Butler the proper look is to put him with Spezza at all times (except PK). Hopefully Butler's young enough to take advantage of live legs and get in there. Plus, I assume his adrenalin will be maxed out this aft.

Foligno had a strong game last night, I thought, as did many of our guys. That Neil-Winchester-Foligno line was the only one hitting and creating space for itself out there, really. Phillips was strong, ditto Alfie.

I don't know who you sit. Foligno or Regin, to say that they have to pick up their production; Fisher, because he's clearly still injured and can't do a lot of hitting; or Shannon, because in spite of his effort, he's not doing a whole lot. Ruutu is a definite candidate in my mind, personally. Ruutu or Shannon. Long shot on Foligno or Regin.

yeah I meant more because of that. Despite efforts, 2 goals in 27 games is no way for these guys to go about business. But I do think they need to sit one of the injured, though there was alot of jump in alfie and fisher's games yesterday. Ruutu though has been pretty bad, but I don't think they sit him (trade bait perhaps?)
