obviously I'm not an expert but with him having missed most of last season in the juniors you'd kind of think one more year development down there wouldn't be a bad idea. i mean he might be good at any rate but maybe he'll end up just a little less then if they'd taken their time? oh, habs will be habs...

There's isn't "one more year of development" that he could have had. It's pretty much February right now. He already played half a season in junior this year.

yeah but third line duties over 1st line responsibilities in the juniors? is he mentally ready? I just don't see this as a necessary move especially that expectations are really low this year. sure mistakes will be accpetd(maybe not) but he'd be better off being an outstanding winner in juniors then lose in the MTL fish bowl.

He's teared the OHL apart its not even funny. He looks pretty good on the Habs lineup, gets PP minutes and does not look overwhelmed or intimidated at all.

I just think this is a short assessment of him with the big club. also there's more to lose in my opinion then to win at thrusting an 18 year old in the NHL. especially when it's not necessary.

Well, when you're ready, you're ready. It's not like guys like Jeff Skinner, Seguin, Hall or John Tavares etc got worse after playing at 18.
It's one thing to rush some prospects but there are exceptions. And from what I've seen so far Galchenyuk can be included in that list.

yeah sure, there are exceptions. but it's a tough assessment to make. just seams like a needless gamble in this situation where the Habs don't need to go there. time will tell I guess.

so what about this rumor that philly called about PK? could there be a PK + for couturier and Bourdon?

No idea what they would offer... I've not seen any hint of what could be in the package at all... Couturier I'm sure would be asked for by the Habs...

He's a very good young player.. but I think they are rushing him into the NHL... One more year in the OHL wouldn't hurt him...

Agreed. And he got to play in the world jrs. Quite the development year, a bit of everything. Also montreal is hurt and need the guys.
