I like Koivu as a player - a lot - but that is a ludicrous amount of money. I thought 5-5.5 max.

Again, great player, but so much $$.

Sure that is a lot of money, but to Minnesota brass, the team, the players and the community, he is worth every penny. Koivu is to Minnesota what Alfie is to Ottawa. It really is a perfect comparison. On the ice and off, in every aspect.

I don't think Minnesota will ever regret this signing.

So when looking at it that way it was a good deal by the Wild.

I will learn to scroll down the page before I respond one of these times. I just said almost the exact same thing. I could have just quoted this post and said, Koivu Extension (7 years, 47.25) in Minnesota - Page 3 827103

Well the guy obviously has connections of some kind - e.g. "They like a d from USHL [Aneloski] with the last pick and hoping he will be there." He did make up that Spezza thing which damaged his rep, but that was "to prove a point." Not sure what he'd achieve by making up a Foligno signing.

Still, take it with a grain of salt, yeah.

I agree, but they still could have loved Koivu for 5.75 per year - or at most 6 million a year. It's frankly a little shocking that a team would sign Koivu to more money than Jonathan Toews - considering that Toews signed his contract really recently.

But hey, I like Koivu and I hope it all works out. Smile

It's all about the progression of your play and # of contracts though. You can't compare the two right now.

This is Toews' 2nd contract and Koivu's 3rd. That's something to take into account too.

Oh yeah, that's a good consideration. Koivu's 27 and on his 3rd contract.

Yeah there's one or two who are dynamite then another 3000 that are useless.

When I worked for HB they were the number 1 people contacting me and telling me I'm way wrong and saying I'm Ek. Koivu Extension (7 years, 47.25) in Minnesota - Page 3 489887 ...morons

I don't even like going to hockeyfutures.com anymore because of thier related forums.

Best information for european prospects and players is by far - http://www.eliteprospects.com/

I swear by it. HF is all over the map nowadays.

My, what an elitist attitude to hold. However do you sleep at night? Koivu Extension (7 years, 47.25) in Minnesota - Page 3 159628

On pillows made up of the many emails i recieved from the HF faithful, I earned my distain for them.

I never go to HFboards anyways, but I had to deal with them despite that. So while I am generalizing because I don't actually believe there are 3000 useless people over there, I do have a certain angst towards them, probably the same issue they had with me. It's a vicious cycle I tell ya.

Hahaha I can just imagine, hell if you go through some of the original blogs I posted on HB, there are some 'colourful' comments about Lee posted Koivu Extension (7 years, 47.25) in Minnesota - Page 3 270956

Is Kevin now on HF Boards? I shudder at the thought. Can anyone enlighten me what he was doing in Phoenix? And how can someone who uses "alot" in every second or third paragraph call himself a "sports writer"? You can get away with a lot on XM Radio, but "writer" should mean a little more than that (notice how *no one* ever writes 'alittle').
