Just got a text from tsn.ca.

Good move for TB imo.

Well, we'll see if Yzerman is ready for the big time. The Olympics and having the ability to pick from the best is one thing but having to build a team through the draft, FA, and with trades... we'll see if he's up for it.

Good for Tampa though.

Can't be any worse than Brian Lawton. Yzerman to be named as GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning today. 62136

Wow I do wonder if Stevie Y is ready for the big time.

Choosing the Olympic team is one thing ... this is a whole other game altogether.

It'd be too awesome if he was in Ottawa, but Murray has a good thing going here.

This is pretty risky, who knows how good of a GM he can be. Obviously it's a little different than picking a team of all-stars to go to the Olympics haha. Might as well give him a shot, I guess, and give your fans somebody they can relate to.

I guess St. Louis fate is sealed then. We all know how Yzerman feels about the Fantastick Four. Yzerman to be named as GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning today. 159628

Wow, why the heck would Yzerman want to GM the Lightning with all their issues.

This could easily backfire in his face.

New owner. The franchise seems to be headed in the right direction.

I dont think this is a very good move, how do we know how good this guy actually is?

I dont like Pierre McGuire, but I think even he would have been a better choice (was rumoured to be in contention)

He's been mentored for awhile now by the likes of Holland and Jim Nill. There is no better fellowship for an aspiring GM.

He's instantly brings a credibility to Tampa. Instantly. That counts as well, as the fans I am sure were sick of the rodeo antics of the last ownership group.

He'll be fine if they let him spend to the cap and they leave him alone.

Is St.Louis on the market now? Ahhhhh!

That was my first thought. Probably Lecavalier too.

Wouldn't Yz love Vinny as a good 2-way center?
