I understand his point and I too hope the Leafs can climb the standings but to cheer for them is not something I can do nor will it make a damn bit of difference on the outcome.

I don't need to read the article, I know what it says.

People who didn't realize this and were hoping for Toronto to suck and keep losing are very strange characters. They don't have their pick, I'm cheering AGAINST the Bs getting Hall, Fowler or Seguin - as should everyone else in the East.

The Bs are horrendous as well, they're just awful, so the potential is there for TWO lottery picks. We don't want that. Period.

I won't cheer for the Leafs. Ever. But...there's nothing stopping me from cheering against their opponents.

Seriously, I don' care. Let them have their lottery pick. We're building our team through G and D and it is looking better everyday.

Cheering against the Devils was easy. Too bad Fraudeur wasn't in net for that loss. Cheer for the Leafs? 932508

I can't cheer for the Leafs, although I understand Mendes' rationale.

Watching the Leafs bomb after hyping a post season appearance and their scary truculent defense is just sheer comedic gold for me, I don't think I've ever had such an enjoyable NHL season, watching the Sens exceed all expectations while the hyped Leafs set new lows for NHL hockey.

Even if Burke's arrogance is knocked down only a tad, I am loving it.

I just keep going back to the pre-season where those doorknobs at TSN all picked toronto to beat ottawa in the standings, and Boston to win the division.

oops

and that mcguire is the biggest bandwagon jumper i have ever seen. if he is calling a game, i put it on mute so i don't have to listen to his constant praise of whoever is winning until, oops, the other team just scored so now they are the best...

and his man crush on Schenn at the draft, about how he was going to be this great force in Toronto-that got quiet all the sudden.

If you listened to him on TGOR the last year or so, he said they rushed him and he would need to stay focused to have a better 2nd year.

McGUire is not a bandwagon jumper, he states what's good and what's bad on any team. Of course when the team is winning and playing great he points it out.
McGuire is a MTL fan since he has ties there, he criticizes the organization for bad drafting and rushing players. Latendresse, Price...
Many people criticize him for making bold statements, but after a few years of listening to him, I realized that most of what he says turn out to be true...

Also, most people had Boston at winning the division.
