With the number of goalies who are able to and do steal games, dominating on everything but the score sheet won't cut it. They have to find a way to beat the hot goalies, or they are toast

They make goalies look hot with low-percentage shots and no net-drive or traffic. That's been the problem for years.

With shooting like that, they could make Curtis McIlhennie of the Flames look like freakin Dominic Hasek

Whole lotta standing around our net on those Habs goals. Diddling ridiculous.

hmm of the top 8 teams in the East, ottawa is the worst defensively, with 91 GA.

To be fair, that number has ballooned in the last week since we let opposing teams get insurance markers a plenty late in the game. But an eye sore none the less....

With that said, we're still winning tomorrow night! GAME DAY: Montreal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators - 7:30pm ET - Tue. Dec. 8th, 2009 PLUS post game thoughts - Page 21 16982

These recent games really tell me how badly we need Leclaire, Neil, Donovan and yes even Picard back. How much longer for these guys? I know Leclaire is due back at the end of the month but what about the rest?

What a terrible showing last night, wow! It's all fine and dandy to outshoot them, but if we can't put the puck in the net with the guys we have to do it, we've got major issues. I'm extremely embarrassed that we lost like that and the guys should be too.

I have to admit that I am inching closer and closer to the trade Spezza bandwagon. And at this point I would trade Kovalev for a bag of pucks, or less even. Something's gotta give, it's just not good enough.

On a better note, the Michalek-Fisher-Alfie line is defintiely a keeper! GAME DAY: Montreal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators - 7:30pm ET - Tue. I would suggest putting Winchester as 2nd line center and flanking him with Regin and Cheechoo or Shannon.

Yeah, and by then we'll be out of the race completely.

WTF is wrong with Elliott? Can he not make a save anymore? Wow!

That was the most pissed I've been at losing a game all year I think. Diddle that Dung man, we dominate them for two periods, get shot after shot after shot and none of them force Halak to make big saves. Even the Regin one was right into his mitt. Diddle...

Seven powerplays and all we can do is hand it off to Alfie on each one and let him do everything. What a goddamn mess that was. Campoli's playing excellent hockey right now, but man, does this team need a PP QB or what? It's just too much.

I went to bed last night still stinging with disappointment and bitterness and I'm still 100% pissed off.

When does Murray call a spade a spade and say that he made a mistake and get Kovalev the Diddle out of here. What a useless hockey player that guy is. I was on board when we signed him thinking that he's have some games where he sucked, but he's also be good some of the time. Boy was I wrong.

And Spezza...I've defended you long enough. Either you're injured or you're now magically useless. Congratulations, you might just suck now.

REALLY pissed off. 2 points to the Habs, none for us, they're in 8th, we're in 7th by default.

That hot start had everything to do with Spezza and Heatley's production. After he signed his contract his play went down hill and is snow balling. It might have been his career high but it was his best offensive season. His production took a hit from what was once normal at the time.

This is his 3rd straight year in a drop in production.

By "Neely Reconing".

05=06: 90 pts
06-07: 87 pts (drop)
07-08: 92 pts (rise)
08-09: 73 pts (drop)
09-10: season not over yet

If he goes slightly better than a point per game the rest of the season he could actually still get to 73. Assuming he doesn't, though, this will be the *second* straight season where his point production dropped. Last year everyone sucked, so shouldn't he get a break along with Alfie, Fisher, Neil, even Philchenkov etc.?

05/06 - 1.32 PPG
06/07 - 1.29 PPG
07/08 - 1.21 PPG
08/09 - 0.89 PPG
09/10 - 0.63 PPG

I dont really count 06/07 as a drop in production because offensivily it was a great season for him still, but 07/08 was not a great season and his overall play dropped of signifigantly. Just because he had a carrer high of 92 points (remember when people saud this was a 100 point player, haha) doesnt mean his on ice production didnt go down, because it did.

That's how I have looked at it along with his overall play. He's one of the most predictable players in the league.

There's nothing wrong with Elliott. The only save he really should have had, ironically, is that 2 on 1.

Scoring and hard work were lacking last night.

As a power-play quarterback we have plenty. Karlsson showed me a lot last night. He was on a PP for a full 2 minutes where the Habs barely touched the puck and he was a big reason. The forwards weren't smart enough to create traffic for opportunities, unfortunately.

It's getting tough, this might just turn out to be another really loooong season.

What goal was Elliotts fault last night? The 2 on 1 where one of the leagues best snippers but it off the post and in? The puck that was tipped 2 times on a on etimer from the point where he was screened? Or the goal where Elliott made the first save, got barrolled into and 4 guys just watched the guy put it in the back of the net?

As soon as Leclaire is back we will be crying about him not stealing games.

IT'S NOT THE GOALTENDING!

Fixed. That would have been highlight of the night if he did.

That's why you do something BIG. NOW.

Being patient and "not panicking" has already cost us enough. I've always found that approach to be Dung, personally.

100% Melnyk made move to sell Jersey's and the team. Why do you think he was marketed so hard to the fans?
