ANAHEIM, Calif. - Teemu Selanne will be at the Anaheim Ducks training camp even though he's yet to sign a contract for the upcoming season.

The Finnish winger agreed to a pro tryout agreement with the team on Friday so that he could be on the ice when the Ducks start skating over the weekend.

Selanne has been participating in on-ice workouts over the past couple weeks and is likely to sign a contract with the Ducks before the regular season starts next month.

The NHL team will have to make a move to get beneath the US$56.7-million salary cap before that.

The 38-year-old Selanne missed the start of last season while considering retirement before returning in February. He had 12 goals and 23 points in 26 games.

Over 1,067 career regular-season games with Winnipeg, San Jose, Colorado and Anaheim, he has 552 goals and 1,158 points.

Meanwhile, Mathieu Schneider's agent says the 39-year-old defenseman to the team's pre-training camp medical exams on Friday, prefering instead to stay home and wait for a trade.

"They have said something may be imminent, so there's no point in coming," Pat Morris told the Orange County Register. "He's going to stay home through the weekend. Maybe something will get done."

Schneider cleared waivers Wednesday and Burke has said he doesn't want to sent Schneider to the American League and risk losing him on re-entry waivers, where the Ducks would have to pick up half his salary and cap hit.
