even with the loss we are in the top 3 of the conference, should be able to rebound against the Lightning on Thursday and then the Habs on Saturday should not be an issue either, but that is opinion/on paper, have to have the games played to know the real deal.

Be careful about the Lightning, then have a great goalie and a steady offense. I'm a little nervous that if we buzz around, but 'just miss', we'll be destroyed. Although...Leclaire certainly appears to be the real deal.

Leclaire should've had that blast from Kennedy, he was in position. Otherwise he was the victim of bad bounces while Fleury had some on his side.

I think Karlsson needs time in the AHL, he needs to get used to North American Hockey. I don't think sending him to Sweden will accomplish anything.

Kuba-Phillips-Volchenkov-Carkner are the only 4 D's that have to stay.

Between Karlsson, Picard, Campoli, Lee, BM and Clouston need to decide who stays and who goes soon, maybe swing a trade if better D are available.

That's how I see the team. We are a work in progress still but I think we have a lot of pieces in place as well.

Campoli's fall from grace has been extraordinary. Wow.

Good post though Hoags.

I am giving everyone a few games to get things going except...

Picard, he is horrible this year. He hasn't done one thing that would make me see him as anything other than an AHL calibre player.

and our powerplay...

We have been horrible on the PP this year. Partitally because I think Carvel is a Dung coach of the PP and partially because we have defenceman who are making poor decisions. Kuba is okay and Shannon is okay. Other than those guys we are making bad choices. Defenseman's role is find a shooting lane or pass it off. We are shooting into defensemen, making low percentage passes or ill advised pinches. Need to figure this out or it will be a tough year.

I am expecting Alfie to have another 7 point night against the Lightning......yeah right, but it would be nice though to have that kind of offensive explosion. Their D is like ours, a bit skeptical, they seem to be pretty solid on offense and Stamkos is having a pretty decent year so far, but if we bury our chances, Tampa will have their hands full with this balanced scoring team, we just need to score more than 3 goals consistently.

Agreed.  It's either Bingo or he stays.  Last night was for sure his worst game.  He struggled.  But, we knew going into the game, after Volch and Phillips, the D would struggle.  In the next 5 games, playing with Kuba, if Karlsson looks like he did last night, you see if he'll go to Bingo.  Still, last night aside, Karlsson has been as good or better overall than Campoli and Picard.

For the first time this season, I'm really excited about our forward lines. And, I thought Kovalev - Fisher - Alfredsson looked especially good. There's a lot of potential there.

Definitely, the defence needs tweaking, but again so much will be gained just from the return of FK. Sub Kuba and Lee in for Karlsson and Picard and the defence looks very solid - or, at the very least, not a weakness that will lose us games.

Michalek - Spezza - Cheechoo
Kovalev - Fisher - Alfredsson
Foligno - Regin - Shannon
Neil - Winchester - Ruutu

Phillips - Volchenkov
Kuba - Campoli
Lee - Carkner

Leclaire
Elliott

That looks like a playoff team for sure.

Get that pile of Dung out of there. What a fuckin loser that guy is...Karlsson doesn't deserve to have a single one of those minuses...give them all to that idiot Campoli.
I 100% agree with you. I've never been sold on Campoli and Picard has just been a big letdown for me---I expected much better from him. I would much rather have Kuba-Karlsson as the 2nd pairing. Everything else looks right.

I also like that idea. I'm tired of them trying to force Foligno into a top-6 role. He might be one someday, but that day is not today...

I won't lie, there's no way Chelios could be worse than Picard or Campoli. Sign Chelios, waive Picard (that's right, waive him) and hope that Chelios can settle things down back there a little.

I like it.

Ive like Picard thus far, havnt loved him, but he's been solid. No doubt in my mind that Campoli should be the guy coming out of the lineup. He has been awful, hasnt produced, been a big liability defensivly. I took the wait and see approch about him but I've waited and what I have seen isnt good.

Karlsson out of the lineup? What for? He's been good for the most part and put in a position to fail right now playing with Campoli, yet he is still playing pretty well.

Picard/Carkner have been a VERY good pair.

I can't wait until Kuba gets back and goes back to being paired with Karlsson, then you have a decent set of 6.

Kuba - Karlsson
Big Rig-A-Train
Picard-Big Country Carkner

Do what you want with Campoli if he hasn't panned out per se, and use Lee as a call up.

No point in Lee being a 7th D man up here, space on the cap, he doesnt get to play, and doesnt help either team, Bingo or Ottawa.

We don't need a dinosaur like Chris Cheerios on this team.
