Seriously, though, been there 4 times (not for my sister, for myself). Congratulations to your sister. Now go and be a good uncle. Set up an annual reminder for this birthday so you always have a card/present ready.

wont be necessary, mine is saturday :^^^^:

Considering my style of going with youth over experience (Booth over Kariya and Giroux over Selanne) I might as well keep up the trend:

I take Kyle Okposo

(Is Steve Rucchin is still available Ahhhhh! )

Cap'n Clutch takes .... a vacation, so that's why I am picking for him. For his next pick .... he will have to read this thread to find out whom he got.

OK, enough Staaling, he takes David Perron.

For his next pick, come over here.

Guys (and gals) we are getting close to that time when we can throw caution to the wind and just start picking players who will probably get 40 with a little upside beyond that, but we really like them. Fan favorites like Fisher, Foligno.

I envy you for spotting these players confused

A couple of days ago I got The Score's projections, so that's helped. My own picks, like I said, have been dwindling, so I'm relying more and more on the pros. I have a few more sets of projections but have nt looked at them yet. Usually I'm in drafts that happen just the week before the season starts, and I use the UPP (Ultimate Pool Preview -- look for it on HockeyBuzz.com).

NHL.com's stats page can do so much for you. You can sort by total points, or points per game. That can let you spot some hidden gems -- for example, Sastny is a PPG player but because of injuries last year he won't be in the top-50 (?) if you only sort by points.

Well, truth is there's a lot more than that. You can look at stats going back a few years, or click the player's name and see his whole life story. But that can be a little slow. The UPP puts a lot of this into a single spreadsheet. We include the last three years' worth of stats so you can see it at a glance, you can sort on any column (including three year average points or games played); there's projections from several pool mags, as well as the average projection and standard deviation. There a sheet that compares the poolies -- i.e. which of the mags had the most accurate projections. Really good stuff. Huge Excel workbook. Problem is, it's not out yet -- we just started putting it together the last fwe days.

At this point of the pool, I would suggest to take a player who excelled at the last part of the year. I watch the last 5 games played on NHL.com.

Ya that's what I use along with getting his career stats and how many games he played. Still don't think I'm as organized as some of the people here lol

Everyone's around except BWG, eh? Maybe it was too good to last -- the way we flew through this round. If it wasn't for me having to go feed the kids supper we would have been done in 24 hours.

For the P/G average, select "Points" from the "Report" pulldown list.

For the last five games you have to click through on the player's name. There is no report (that I know of) that will show the last 4 days' points for all players. Wouldn't be a bad idea to add this, though. Maybe last 5 and last 10, even. Let's you see who's cooling off or catching fire.

BTW, when you click through on the player name, you can select the "Game Log" tab and see the per-game stats going back the entire season.
