That's basically what they are gonna go with IMO. Lee might be the rover between Bingo and Ottawa.

Karlsson a righty playing with Picard might very well be one of the best 3rd pairings in the league. That is perhaps why Murray insisted on Picard in that Meszaros deal. Could be very sexy and dirt cheap.

I'd be very impressed if you were right about that. I think Lee's a lock to play in Ottawa this year, so I don't think it's that easily resolved personally.

We'll see about that, if Picard is dealt then Lee will be put in. If Picard plays as well as Lee at training camp then Picard will get that spot. Lee is still on a 2 way, Picard is not.

I'm not convinced they combined for that many points when they were together under Clouston last year. My computer is too slow to break that down to be sure, though.

I would bet that Foligno-Regin-Shannon would put up better numbers than Foligno-Fisher-Shannon.

Karlsson will be tossed on the 2nd PP unit right away, maybe even the 1st with his shot and Kuba being a pretty good QB and passer. Campoli and Picard on the 2nd unit.

Absolutely. 1st PP unit, but 3rd pairing 5 on 5 time and no PK time....yet.

Depending on his play, he could see 2nd pairing mins. Seriously would not be surprised in the least seeing him playing 20 mins a night by the end of the year.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's official. Karlsson will be an NHLer this year. Let the trial by fire begin.

I know you're not big on Fisher and to some extent I agree, but Ill take that bet any day of the week. A 10 year vet who has scored 20 plus goals in a season vs a guy with 2 NHL points up the middle.

I get you have your view on Fisher but be a bit more objective, that last statement is kind of rediculous.

I'm big on Fisher as long as he's not the pivot on a scoring line. My last statement is pretty well bang on.

Wow...either you think very highly of Regin or you're not a Fish fan.  I'm betting Fish breaks 50 points for the first time in his NHL career.

I am going to hold you to those 50 points for Fish this year Sarcasm

I hope so too. It would be about time.

I just think Regin is a better play maker and easily trumps Fishers non-existent hockey sense.

No worries...just allow me to throw in a clause...this is assuming he plays within a few games of the full 82.

Very good point there. Murray is quite high on Smith at the moment, he seems to have made some good strides and could very well be part of the Sens come October 4th.

I think Smith may have very well stolen Bass' spot in Ottawa.

Yeah, Bass is a huge ? I like him a lot, but too many things have kept him out of the lineup for too long. He may very well have been lost in the shuffle as well...

We had to pay a buyout of his last contract...

We had to buyout the remaining option year on Alfie in order to present him with a new contract.

The Alfredsson thingy is a technicality; it's based on his contract being grandfathered in the new CBA.

The foligno fisher shannon line should not be broken up. They showed real chemistry last year. That said, they should not be our second line.

It should be something like:

Alfie Spezza Smith
Regin Comrie Kovalev
Foligno Fisher Shannon
Rutuu Kelly Neil

Obviously if Heatley is gone, Smith and Regin could be replaced with proven scorers but, even that line up doesn't look half bad.
There is nothing to say your second and third lines cant have the same amount of ice time.

So if Heatley is gone you take out Regin and Smith, but if Heatley is still here, he's a bench warmer? I don't get it. Shrug
