So what's Snow going to do now that DiPietro will become the GM?

Don't be silly. It's the backup goaltender that gets the job. Deathmatch between Roloson and Biron!!

i wonder what's the payoff for di-pietro..? how much do they have to pay him if he can't skate? you have to feel sorry a little for him.

I feel very badly for Dipetro personally. One of the brightest up and comers in deep, deep trouble because he pushed himself too hard at an All-Star Game. Deep issues in his hips etc. Hopefully they can get him back into the league.

Insurance takes over if he can't play - his contract will come off the books.

Now...the real question is: what dumbarse insurance company insured that contract?

Well considering he can go home and wrap his knee in 100 dollar bills, I'll try to keep the tears to a minimum.

He's insured, so I would think he would see at least some of the contract owed to him. As for the team, I believe they would be off the hook for the contract.

ok, he's got money, but his dreams (and hips) are shattered. you work all your life to get to that level and then it get's pulled right from under you... not cool.

Yeah it sucks, but it could be worse. Brett Lindros was barely into his rookie season when he was forced to quit wasn't he? At Dipietro has had some nice earnings so far, and a fat insurance pay out if he is forced to walk away. Still I see your point.

Yeah, imagine if we had done a sit-down draft for three hours one night. Someone would have picked him, for sure. It might even have been me. Ahhhhh!

never trust DiPietro in a pool people, got burned by him once a couple of years back, still haven't heard the end of it, I picked him because I knew he would get 75% of the starts, ugh, huge mistake, had to dump him and run with two backups for the rest of the year Facepalm

So does this unlock one more #1 for the draft pool? We currently have 4 teams whose goalies have not been picked -- Islanders and Atlanta because of injury concerns to the #1, Colorado because they've got no-one, Toronto because, although they have a #1, the GM will push the rookie with zero NHL experience.

So, did someone (picking soon) just luck out?
