Clouston speaks about the Sens' latest acquisition...

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/07/23/clouston_heatley/

"My first reaction was I was just very excited for the organization," Clouston said. "Alex brings something into the mix who can change a game in and of itself.

Off to a good start already...

He also talks about the hiring of Brad Lauer.

I wonder how ticket sales go every time something likethis comes out? They got a bump when he was signed, probably another after that photoshoot, maybe another now?

Possibly, I think they're trying to get the focus back on the positive stuff now and away from the Heatley mess. Good move.

They have to get the focus back on the team for sure. Heatley is not part of this team anymore, he is technically, but that's about it.

I'm getting super psyched about Kovalev and what he will bring to our team next year. The media should just start to focus on that and Spezza's training this off-season and Alfie and Fisher and the good things he's done this off-season etc...those guys are the team. We will be right back into it before we know it, it's annoying to have so much negativity around the team and city, because of Diddle.

I'm very excited to see what Kovalev has to offer to our team especially when playing with someone like Spezza.

And I agree, I'm sick and tired of all the Heatley drama, bring in the good news!

Does he play with Spezza? Or does he play with Fisher? A Habs fan explained it, but I can't recall why he said Spezza.

I think he ought to play with Spezza. He's got some finish and we know that Spezza works best with someone to finish off his dishes. Kovalev never had anyone in Montreal with this kind of talent to distribute the puck. Although I'm not getting my hopes too high, I don't think 35-40 is unrealistic for AK27 with a spot on the top line and PP minutes galore.

The flip side is that when Spezz doesn't have anyone to finish for him, he uses his fairly lethal shot to much greater effect.

But Fisher isn't the right style to play with Kovalev - I would rather watch a combination of Spezza and Kovalev, with whoever else, play keepaway from the opposition. On a good day, it could be magical.

Kovalev has a pretty good one timer -- not as quick as Heatley, but much better aim. He also dangles better than anyone we have.

This could be a very lethal combination. Spezza can still dish to Kovalev as he did to Heatley, but Kovalev can dish back as well -- we never had that with Speatley. The opposition will have more than one play to look out for. In fact, at the risk of putting most of our eggs in one basket, I'd ask one of Alfie or Kovalev to play on their off wing (they do on the PP anyway) and put all three together. Then reunite the FFS line when Dany is dealt. Heatley should absolutely play 2nd line until he's gone, IMO. That's the least amount of pennance I can think of; he deserves so much more.

Yeah, the fact they they'll both (Spezz and Kovy) be able to set each other up nicely will just add to the potential and the options. Goalies are going to have to be paying attention.

I don't know how many games we'll win -- I'd settle for 40 with another 10-12 losses in OT/SO -- but we are going to have some highlights of the night, for sure.

No doubt about it.
