All good points. I was operating under the assumption that there certainly would be some player movement. Not sure who, but I'm assuming Auld, Schubert, perhaps Jason Smith etc. would be moved to open up some cap space to make the addition. I can't bring myself to believe we've gone this far, missed the playoffs and all of a sudden Murray is thinking about trading Kelly, so I'll leave him out. I think he stays because he's a guy who's invaluable when you can mount a lead.

As for the cap, I think it's staying in the 55.5-56.5 range. I'd bet against it moving anywhere below or above that, but yes, we should probably wait and see. Just putting out the feelers... Rockon

Getting Top-6 forwards and expecting Top-6 numbers with Mike Fisher at center.

If his production continue to be in the 35 point range, Regin can get his shot at 2nd line center and Fisher can move down to play with Ruutu and Winchester/Neil or whatever. If he can't score, he won't be the 2nd line center, I doubt Clouston would keep him in there. However...his showing at the Worlds was quite good - and Travis Zajac was his center...meaning that Fisher moved to the wing. Which is pretty much where we all want him anyway.

Gosh, that would be diddling awesome if he was to finally move over to the wing once and for all - and be successful at it. Brendan Morrow the 2nd.

Alfie - Spezza - Heatley

Foligno - Fisher - Shannon

Ruutu - Winchester - Kelly

Z. Smith - Bass - Donovan

Kuba - E. Karlsson

Phillips - Volchie

Picard - Campoli

Bell

That means no more Neil, Schubert, Comrie

Bell as your 7th D, J. Smith hopefully traded, retired or LTIR

Lee sent to Bingo for callups

I'll admit to that not being too shabby. The only issue is your D. Left handed, right handed, left, left, left, left.

if you could make Fisher play wing with Regin, we all would be in your debt forever heater.

Before I make an official reply to this thread on the matter in discussion, I'd just like to point out the puzzling use of the word ubiquitous.

Quite possible I diddled up the word I was going for. I was going for 'everywhere' because Bryan Murray said he was looking for a top 6 - and since then it's kinda been talked about everywhere, all the time.

Lindsay Ruff did it, maybe Clouston takes his cue from the Worlds? Ahhhhh!

Before this team goes looking for a top six forward, they need to address their most pressing concern, adding a true number one defenseman. It's paramount to the success of this team to add a bonafide blueliner who can log heavy minutes playing all situations AND contributing a ton of points from the backend. It would make the job of a Filip Kuba so much easier, Volchenkov and Phillips could go back to being a formidable shut down pairing without the concern of having to feign an offensive game, and the bottom pairing guys would be able to shine their specific talents.

If Murray is smart, he's sitting around right now, figuring out ways to unload enough salary to sign a Jay Bouwmeester in the offseason, or to trade for a Chris Pronger.

We NEED a guy like that more than we need someone to put on our second line.

Lindsay Ruff did it, maybe Clouston takes his cue from the Worlds? Ahhhhh!

is clouston as nasty as Ruff, because I bet Ruff strongarmed him into it, Ruff might regret that playing the Sens 6 times a year if Fish does start playing wing full time.

Clouston is an intense IMO, maybe not where Ruff is an a coach yet though. That would be pretty funny if Clouston took his cue, turned Fisher into a winger and he annihilated the Sabres all year. :^^^^: Sarcasm

i was just thinking about that, try regin centering that line with fisher to one side and foligno/shannon the other and if that doesn't work fisher can center the 3rd with kelly and zack or someone else.

and the dream continues.... i admit it's the best scenario but with so many other teams trying the same thing someone will overpay... just not BM. + any indication that Jay Bo wants to play ottawa? i heard he'd like to play canada but htere are 5 other teams up here especially with the habs and leafs ready to sign blank checks Crying

also in the fisher dilema, if murray does sign another top 6 it might signal the end for fisher... especially if he signs a center. fisher (although i love the guy) would fetch a pretty penny and we know teams would love to have him.

that would be perfect irony, and I know Clouston seems like a real smart coach, a real student/teacher of the game, so should be interesting to see where Fish lines up come training camp in the summer.

Actually, yeah, it will be neat to see if he uses Fisher on the wing permanent.
