GAME OF THE NIGHT: Calgary Flames at Chicago Blackhawks, Thursday April 16, 2009, 830 pm ET

Ya man, you are bang on with that. Watching the games yesterday and tonight, the number 1 centers were the best players on the ice for every team.

If people are watching all these games, people cannot feel good about our "top 2" guys going into next year.

We have a 7.5 million dollar winger who might be one of the biggest jerks in the league, and a 7 million dollar center who is destined to be the next Pierre Turgeon. Sens are in a lot of trouble.

Tough for me to enjoy these games and not get mad about the Sens and some players, even looking back at last years playoffs where the intensity isnt 1/2 of what it should have been considered exceptable.

The Pierre Turgeon comparison is dead on.

Like I said, the beginning of excellence is when you admit how far away you are from achieving it.

Heartbreaker of a loss for Calgary fans last night. Seems that elbow woke Havlat up.

Man - there were a LOT of elbows flying last night. Almost like every hit in the Boston/Habs game has the elbows up.

Keenan was hilarious in the postgame. "Like the Brett Hull goal", bla, bla, bla. He hasn't changed.

Great game in every way.

Can't wait for Saturday night.

Nice to see Havlat step up. Perhaps last year was Hossa's turn now it's Havlat's? Just like it was Aflie's coming out party in 2007? Nice to see.

what a game last night for the Hawks, Bulin had a solid game, Havlat of course with the two goals after taking the punch to the head, but the Hawk that impressed me the most was Toews, after the jitters, he really settled down and controlled the game every time he was on the ice. Calgary may have some trouble here if they don't keep him controlled.

Jonathan Toews shows what character combined with talent can do.

Calgary came into this series in trouble--having been swept by Chicago this year--and they played desperate hockey last night. It was effective...but only to a point.

They won't intimidate or 'grind down' the Blackhawks.

Game Two will be yet another battle...maybe even more heated.

Calgary should have had that one... but they'll get the split they need.

well Cammalleri's intimidation technique didn't work, I tell you that one, that dirty shot got Havlat revved up, bet Keenan blasted him for that one after the game. is that a record for quickest goal in a SCP game? 11 seconds was pretty quick.

Havlat's goal was third quickest ever in the SCPs, I believe tying the former record by Hawk great Pit Martin.

3rd quickest eh, so that means two other teams had a worse defensive breakdown than Calgary did, well I can't say that, Bolland made the play happen, not anything Calgary did. (should have played it off the boards though Calgary D-man, can't remember who it was)

Shabbs, sorry to disagree with you my friend...once Chicago gained the momentum after Havlat's first goal, you could see the Hawks were coming in waves.

Unless the Flames can repeat their strategy, that worked in the first half last night, in Saturday's game--to keep the Hawks to the perimeter--chances of going back to the Saddledome with a split could be severely compromised.

But a win won't be easy for either club.

Here's what Jonathan Toews had to say after the game: “It’s great to have momentum in a series like this, but we know they’ll come back even stronger in the next game. We were all ready for a marathon when Marty (Havlat) scored his big goal. It was anybody’s game at that point.”

All very exciting stuff.

Yeah, after the initial nerves of playing at home, the Hawks took it to the Flames.

IMO this series might be the quickest one if Chicago really gets rolling.

What do you consider an upset though?

The only one I see right now that has potential to be pretty serious upsets are the Rangers and the Ducks. And I believe the Caps will prevail in that series, Theodore or not.

am hoping so honestly, makes for better entertainment value, but if the Hawks pull it out, that won't be an upset in anyone's mind, or at least it shouldn't be.
