The season was lost. That was the sentiment from people watching and listening to last night's B-Sens vs Syracuse Crunch game last night.
With the B-Sens in 9th place, trailing the Phantoms by 1 point, they had been dealt a devastating blow. With 24 seconds left in the game, they were down by one and Hunt had called a time out. They decided to pull Glass right off the hop and hope that the Sens could control the face off.
But...they could see the scoreboard, the Phantoms were winning 3-2 late in their game as well.
Then...
M.Karlsson took a shot that flew over the net. The clock ticked down, 8, 7, 6...time was running out! The puck hit the glass behind the net and came back out - and with 4 seconds remaining in the game, Z.Smith took one last desperate shot...and scored!
Not to be outdone - Albany tied the Phantoms in the 3rd as well.
32 seconds into overtime Peter Regin worked the puck along the board and then swept out in front of the Crunch net - scoring the winning goal and vaulting them into an 8th place tie with Philly (Philly owns the tie break though by virtue of wins).
The B-Sens were forced to watch the Philly-Albany game as it went 7 rounds in a shoot out, before finally, Albany prevailed.
The season is saved...for now, but the B-Sens are gonna need to win the next 2 and hope they get some help.
