Put Alfie with Fisher for a full year and see his totals drop to 60 points. Mind you, put Foligno with Spezza full time and he'd set him up for 40.

Spezza has done what with others besides Alfi and Heatley?

Spezza is your classic underachiever. Never has he ever exceeded expectations in Jr or the NHL, he has always left people wanting and demanding more. He has gotten away with it his entire career.

SPezza has an insane amount of tallent but tallent alone wont make the Sens better in Spezza's case. The last 2 years are a perfect example of it. The more responsibility the guy gets the worse the Sens have done. The results are there and there is no debating the fact that since Spezza and Heatley have signed those deals its been a steep drop ever since.

Id rather have an over achiever who puts up 80 points than an u under achiever who puts up 90. The team will be better because of the over achiever because the effort is something that rubs off on others.

Oh great, who got Neely going off on another Spezza rant? ...like a broken record.

Oh, sorry, I was under the impression that major decisions were going to be made about him this off season.

The future of the franchise and Spezza are directly related. Spezza is absolutly the main focus of the off season so you will be hearing a lot more about buddy.

Why, who else has he played with?

Obviously there are things Spezza still needs to learn and who better than to have Alfie being his teacher? We all saw how well Heatley can play with a lesser centre (Kelly) a few years ago. I think that is a much better way to distribute the talent.

As for Bozak, apparently the Sens will find out his decision today.

I think that means we made the short list if there are only 3 or 4 teams "interested". There were reportedly as many as 29.

Vermette, Shannon, Foligno, Winchester, all who have been moved from the top line because Spezza failed to make them better. 7 million a year he has to have the ability to turn a Dustin Penner in Edmonton in the Dustin Penner in Anahiem. Thats what Getzlaf did, thats what Spezza has to do. Otherwise its a waste of 7 million.

Shannon clicked with him if I remember, but it was so short, no one even noticed. Foligno gets no time up there to get a constant flow going. Winchester doesn't have NHL offensive skills yet and Vermette missed some of the most awe-inspiring open nets I've ever seen in my life during his 7 game tenor there.

I wanted to strangle him. Put your stick on the ice and direct the puck home.

My question is: will I hear anything new from you on the subject, or are you going to keep writing the same comments day after day? Don't get me wrong man, I respect your opinion but you have just made it so many times.

I bet Murray quietly asks Alfie who he'd prefer to stay and he says Spezza. You can't teach that kind of passing ability. Heatley's amazing, but he can be replaced IMO.

And if that happens, I reserve the name SpezDispencer - and will have no choice but to block anyone attempting to take it. :D: (I'm serious).

Thats the main focus right now. What else is there to say about Spezza, the last 2 years, since he signed his contract has been downhill for him and the Sens. He fails to make those not named Heatley or Alfi better, and he is invisable on way too many nights.

Nope, but again, this team will be better with a center who shows up, night in and night out, plays hard and the effort rubs off on others.

I have no doubt in my mind this team would be better with a guy like Andy McDonald as the number 1 center than Spezza. 10 points in the Art Ross race wont make the difference between the playoffs and missing out, it also wont be the difference in the playoffs. The effort either one puts out will be.

This year wasnt a rought patch, it was the continuation of last year and the fall of the Sens with the core we have.

Time to build the team like everyone else who is being sucessful now, goalie out, with draft picks and prospects. The signing UFA's BS has never worked in hockey and never will, thats what some people are counting on. Murray is smart enough that he wont let that happen.

I'm ALL FOR THAT!! Problem is, Fish isn't. Why??? I have no freaking clue, and never will.

Clouston's probably quite against it. Fisher can't hit the broad side of a barn. What a waste of Spezza's skill. At least Alfie can score.

Alfi scores with Fisher as his center too.

I like the Alfie Fisher pairing a lot personally. Alfie Fisher Foligno and Heatley Spezza Shannon Smile

That sounds really sexy!! Will he try it for the remainder? He should.

Right now isnt the time to see who plays well with who, its the time to see who actually gives a damn. It doesnt matter who plays where, what matters is the effort level and the competitivness the players show.

These next 6 games will tell the story of who is here next year and who isnt, if it hasnt been decided already. Heatley has already quit it seems, the big question is will anyone else.

There are 4 spots spoken for on the D already, plus Smith making north of 2 million bucks. I'd be surprised to see a big deal for a defenseman.

I truly hope Smith is back next season and that his injury isn't career ending. I think he could do alot for our team, when we're playing the way we should, he'll be very valuable to our season and playoffs next year.

If he isn't healthy though, that's what, 2.5 off the cap or more? To pick someone else up either D or top 6F.

Here's something on topic for you, if Bozak is a Senator he better play wing because he's not a 3rd, 4th line type and the 2nd line center position is set in stone.

SSF are you not a card carrying member of the Get Fisher Going fan club? Wink

If it worked, I would be. Fisher is the type of guy that you want as a Senator for life, but his presence just hurts the teams progress too much, IMO.

I'm for the team more than individual players, a LOT more.

Don't put the Coaching and GMs decisions to keep trying him as a second line center all on Fisher. He doesn't tell them where to play and if he does then that still lies on the GM and coach for allowing it.

It's looking pretty good actually, we're down to 3 teams (Colorado, Toronto?) and there's considerable interest from Bozak - especially after chatting with Wiercioch all year.

It would apparently mean that Comrie goes bye bye, which is sad because I love him as a player, but he was NOT doing it since being acquired.

It's tough to "do it" when you're playing with Kelly and Neil.
