Put Alfie with Fisher for a full year and see his totals drop to 60 points. Mind you, put Foligno with Spezza full time and he'd set him up for 40.
Spezza has done what with others besides Alfi and Heatley?
Spezza is your classic underachiever. Never has he ever exceeded expectations in Jr or the NHL, he has always left people wanting and demanding more. He has gotten away with it his entire career.
SPezza has an insane amount of tallent but tallent alone wont make the Sens better in Spezza's case. The last 2 years are a perfect example of it. The more responsibility the guy gets the worse the Sens have done. The results are there and there is no debating the fact that since Spezza and Heatley have signed those deals its been a steep drop ever since.
Id rather have an over achiever who puts up 80 points than an u under achiever who puts up 90. The team will be better because of the over achiever because the effort is something that rubs off on others.
