Beaten by a goalie with a 3.87 GAA. Wow. Trade anyone you can.

Volchenkov was the #3.

As soon as I say how well Spezza's playing, he takes a major turn for the worse. DOH!

Damn! He had 7 hits and 6 blocked shots... Too bad about the fall at the end though.

Volchenkov had half our blocked shots. And Vermette was perfect in the faceoff circle, with 14 wins, although did not play well.

Seriously, if you have to look at Spezza shift by shift there is something wrong there.

Spezza scored on his own goal, was week on the puck all night, and took a lazy penalty leading to the tying goal.

Elliott has to have those last 2 goals.

Not trying to defend Spezza, but that penalty was horse-****. Terrible call.

I thought Spezza started incredibly well. He was really skating hard out there and generated some great scoring chances in the slot.

He had pretty much no luck, though, and the intensity drained as the game went on.

No luck? He passed one out to no where and it went off the Leafs skate right to Shannon. Spezza was basicaly invisable the whole night, he was shooting from the goal line, got no where near the net most of the time and was knocked off the puck by the likes of Blake.

He was totally outplayed, along with Heatley in that first period by Toronto's first line, he had an awful game.

Again, I dont care if they guy has no luck, he is paid 7 million dollar to make his own luck and not give up... but that is just what Jason Spezza is, its not a shock to me and it shouldnt be to anyone else.

In the first period, I thought he was our best player. Showed intensity in the defensive zone, should have been credited with a number of hits and a blocked shot on Schenn.

Generated at least 4 scoring chances by setting Shannon, Heatley and Alfredsson (twice) up point-blank.

He started well. He finished terribly.

The Sens were totally outplayed in the 1st, it wasnt even close, Elliott kept them in that game, and it would have been 1-0 if Spezza didnt put it in his own net.

Spezza was awful in the 1st with the rest of the team. I really dont know what game you were watching, but Spezza's line was totally outplayed, not even close. Thats why Shannon was put on that line.

He wasnt the only player that was awful tonight, I think Heatley was the worst, but the whole thread is basically a period by period evaluation of Spezza. He was awful most of that game.

Offensively, nothing was created, obviously.

But own-goal nonetheless, I thought he was much more involved physically and defensively.

Normally Spezza sort of floats around in the middle of the zone providing "support" for the players actually going after the opposition when they have the puck, but tonight he was skating hard around the ice following guys and battling hard in the corners.

The fact that he wasn't rewarded for that (by fate) probably is part of the reason the intensity diminished as the game wore on.
